There’ll be a recount, provisional ballots checked, absentee ballots mysteriously found, this ain’t over. Not by a long shot.

Looking at the county tallies it looks like the old Iron Range area to the NE is still under the control of the union bosses even though there's no longer any extractive industries where they can have their way.

Those old boys get in a habit and won't break it.

People like that are sitting ducks for scam artists like Franken.

(singing) "Welcome to my world!"

Folks in this part of the country are often more loyal to their party than their religion.

What's really sad is that's where most of the Finns live (the late arrivals who came in the 1800s as distinct from those who arrived in the 1600s and now serve as an ancestral base for probably half the population) (just being specific here) and Finns are supposed to be the world's smartest people.

No Way!

What do you expect from Minnesota? They gave us Mondale and McGovern, for crying out loud.

I can tolerate a moderate Republican from a liberal state.

We gotta work on the ones like Graham and McCain, moderates from conservative states.

Illinois rules ~ they have Senator Durbin.

They said his daughter died the other day and I said "no way, can't be" 'cause I can't believe that guy could ever get close enough to woman to have any kids.

With or without Obama, Durbin is like having 10 Al Frankens, 5 drunk and 5 on hard drugs, puking and snorking.

Joe Hill and Gus Hall were part of the last wave of Finns. Scoop Jackson’s commie parents were from Finland. The Finns were very active in putting together the ILA and attempted to build “communes” right in Brooklyn.

I can understand it .. i just don’tlke it. lol

Jumping Jim Jeffords, Olympia Snow and all the rest of the Noreast moderates may have given us a majority at one time but in reality held us back from accomplishing anything.

But that in reality had more to do with a lack of leadership .. something we still are lacking sorely.

Ok .. I’ll give you those. Perhaps I spoke to quickly. lol

Now can I counter and ask which one of those have ever stepped up to Lead? Lack of conseratives and lack of leadership ... is still our weakest link.

Late to this thread, but I must point out, McGovern is from South Dakota.

Well - they were part of the first Senate and they were all part of the original Revolution - check Richard Henry Lee's bio. And of course, James Monroe did step up to lead the last part of the "Jefferson Revolution" where for 24 years we had "Democrat Republicans" (read "radical Whigs") running the gov't under conservative and libertarian principles. Note that right after this 'lock' on the gov't, that they did away with political parties in the next election where JQ Adams was elected.

That said, you're point is well taken. It's harder to come up with more modern examples. And it is because of the lack of leadership. The only true leaders we've had in office in recent times has been Reagan and Newt.

HQ,

;-) Don’t beat yourself up. And you’re right we do see I2I - Your original point was valid indeed. Excuse my trip to history - I had to go back that far to answer your question :-)
