Analysis: GOP set to shake up Tenn. Capitol

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Republicans can flex newfound muscle and shake the Tennessee Capitol to its foundation when they take control of the General Assembly in January.

The seismic change the election is bringing to the political power structure comes as the state faces its worst economic crisis in decades.

And a Republican leader in the House — where Democratic Speaker Jimmy Naifeh of Covington has thwarted GOP measures for the last 18 years — should clear the way for measures limiting abortion rights and loosening gun restrictions.

Hey, I am from Alabama. I have nothing against Tennessee. My oldest daughter was born in Clarksville while I was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. I like folks in Tennessee, EXCEPT for the 3d Saturday in October, that is!! Roll Tide

I’m leaving for AL from E.TN as soon as I can get it done! The proiperty tax structure is oppressive. Try to move into a county and not into a city limits. I was finally annexed—against my will—into Johnson City and my taxes doubled overnight without any increase in services.

Good question. It’s easier to think of who SHOULDN’T run for governor than who should run...

I love Marsha Blackburn!

I met Marsha in Blountville a few years back...a credit to conservatism. We need more like her. She and Sarah are similar...you betcha!
