Let's go to work: Senate Elections 2010: 50 State Strategy. Here we go!

Posted on 11/05/2008 6:59:15 AM PST by watsonfellow

Ok: So obviously we need to take a page from the DNC/LEFT/Kos handbook and look at 2010 as an opportunity.

Despite Senate gains in 2002 and 2004, we've been doing a horrible, HORRIBLE job in recruiting and running Senate races.

We need to look at 2010 as an opportunity. We need to target EVERY SINGLE Dem. no matter how "blue" a State they are in, and recruit great candidates for this election.

We can't simply rely on "red" states- there is a reason why Dems win in states like Montana, South Dakota etc.

Here is a list of the Senate races we need to target in 2010.

Christopher Dodd (D) of Connecticut

This will be unpopular here, but we should run Chris Shays for this seat. He is a bit too moderate for my taste, but he has been a strong supporter of Ethics in government as well as the WOT. He can win this.

Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas
Huckabee. Dems always run there strongest candidates for Senate elections. We need to let Huckabee know that it's not ok for him to just sit this one out. He can win this.

Barbara Boxer of California

McClintock and Whitman need to come to an understanding. One of them runs for Gov, the other the Senate. Boxer hasn't run a competitive race since 1998 and we need to take the challenge to her.

Ken Salazar of Colorado Bob Schaffer

Daniel Inouye of Hawaii Linda Lingle

Barack Obama of Illinois

Surely we can find someone to beat Jesse Jackson Jr?

Evan Bayh of Indiana Mitch Daniels

Barbara Mikulski of Maryland Michael Steele.

Harry Reid of Nevada Not sure who, but Reid is very, very unpopular in Nevada and this is our biggest target. Let's wipe out his smug smile.

Chuck Schumer of New York Peter King- he's from NYC, he's popular and can take Schumer down. Our second biggest target.

Byron Dorgan of North Dakota John Hoeven

Ron Wyden of Oregon Not sure who.

Patrick Leahy of Vermont Jim Douglas

Patty Murray of Washington Dino Rossi

Russ Feingold of Wisconsin Paul Ryan

Joe Biden's seat Mike Castle

And there is of course potential seats in Mass (Kennedy's) and South Dakota that we should look out for.

Seriously we need to target every one of these seats.

EVERY ONE OF THEM.

A daunting task. I still cannot fathom how some of the western states could vote reliably GOP in Presidential races, and vote in democrat senators time after time.

The only real good news is that we retained 41 seats in the senate. The bad news is that the dems are better at controling their members than we are.

We also need to target RINOs like George Voinovich. Without him, the Bush tax cuts are permanent, not expiring in 2010, John Bolton is sitting at the UN. That’s why we need to do better than a Chris Shays or a Linda Lingle as well. We need people who will stand for principles, not just go along with the Dems.

I can't help but notice a good number of these are losers from previous elections. Some multiple times. God couldn't beat Evan Bayh. I like the spirit of this, but we need to set more realistic goals.

Didn’t South Dakota have the election and Tim Johnson won?

That is defeatist talk.

Look Santorum won in 2000 despite almost every other GOP Senator from 1994 losing. Dems picked up a ton of Senate seats in that election.

If we constantly say things like "Oh Bayh can't be defeated, why bother" we score our own goal.

Look 2010 will be an opportunity like 1994 to take on these incumb Dems who seem unassailable.

We need to target EVERY race. Just like the Dems do.

Joe Biden's seat Mike Castle

He'll be too old.

Barbara Mikulski of Maryland Michael Steele.

Governor Erhlich for Senate. Steele for governor.

Bye-bye Bayh! Daniels could beat him. If he plays the card “right”. People are still delusional that Bayh is a conservative democrat.

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” - Edmund Burke

Regardless of what the Eeyores say, we can prevail against this. We just need to work and work a little harder. Nothing is gone, it’s just forgotten. It’s now our time to remind America of the reason this country has prevailed for so long under the Constitution.

I am now more determined than ever. While I held my nose and voted for McCain, I believe that God has a reason for his loss.

I believe America became too comfortable, too selfish, too complacent. Even us conservatives need a kick in the pants every now and then. We weren’t happy with the past 8 years, but we were complacent (as a whole).

Let’s get to work and take back our party, but more importantly, take back our country.

Another piece of good news, I don’t have to listen to the pathetic speeches of GWB or J McCain. Trying to defend conservative vaules to liberals who trumpet that even “conservatives” like GWB and J McCain are supporters of nationalizing our economy and reject old fashioned individualism and free enterprise.

Thanks be to the Almighty, I can defend those values again without having my views being repudiated by our party leaders.

You didn't see Kos et al in 2004 say things like: "Well, George Allen certainly won't be defeated in 2006"

They got off their duffs, recruited great candidates and WORKED their asses off.

Which is why they won.

We need to have that same spirit. Seriously, some times I think Freepers are stuck in the 90's. Posting bitchy comments on here won't win elections. Good candidates and supporters will.

You got it - Steele for governor, Ehrlich for senate. I wish we had more GOP options here, but those are the best two candidates out there.

  1. Every Time Gas prices increase we need to remind voters that gas was $2.40 when Hussein was elected and that the Republicans and McCain had plans for 42 nuke plans and wanted to drill offshore, but President Hussein has done nothing to stop our dependence on Middle East Oil.
  2. Every time coal is threatened we need to remind voters that President Hussein is INCREASING our dependence on middle east oil.
  3. Every Time Free Speech is threatened we need to remind voters of President Hussein's marxist ties.
  4. Every time Hussein tries to get anything remotely resembling his civilian national security force we need to remnd voters of President Hussein's marxist ties.

Here, here.

I will fight and work harder than ever in the next two years and beyond. I want to see the America I grew up in under Reagan and I will stop at nothing to achieve that.

Let’s roll.

Good start, Danny.

We also need to ridicule any accusations of racism when they are used to attack policies that encourage self-reliance, education, and achievement.

We need to study the ways of the Marxist propagandists and effectively use or counter them as required.

We need to continue to develop the argument that it was Obama and his cronies who ran this economy into the ditch.

That’s for starters.
