The devil allowed a newly-deceased man to take a tour of hell before he went on to heaven. Hell had most of his friends, eating and drinking, smoking, laughing. There was a golf course. It actually looked like the life the man had lived on earth.
So, after they had left, the devil asked the man if he wanted to just come to hell instead of a boring existence in heaven. You can't drink or smoke up there, and you won't be with your friends.
The man agrees, As they reenter hell, it is a charred, scorched, smoking hell with cries of pain and despair.
What is this, asked the man? This isn't the hell you showed me!
Ahh, said the devil, but that was when I was campaigning for you. This is after you voted for me.
