Franken's deficit: 236 votes
Minneapolis Star-Tribune ^ | 11/7/08 | Patricia Lopez

Posted on 11/07/2008 6:32:02 AM PST by steve-b

Just as Secretary of State Mark Ritchie was explaining to reporters the recount process in one of the narrowest elections in Minnesota history, an aide rushed in with news: Pine County's Partridge Township had revised its vote total upward -- another 100 votes for Democratic candidate Al Franken, putting him within .011 percentage points of Republican U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman.

The reason for the change? Exhausted county officials had accidentally entered 24 for Franken instead of 124 when the county's final votes were tallied at 5:25 Wednesday morning.

"That's why we have recounts," Ritchie said, surveying the e-mail sent in from the county auditor. "Human error. People make mistakes."

The margin in the tightest Senate race in the country bounced like the stock market throughout the day, with the difference between Coleman and Franken dropping, then rising briefly to 590 votes before shooting down to a razor-thin 236 by day's end.

In a reversal of the previous day, when Coleman had declared victory and suggested that Franken should waive a recount, Coleman kept to himself on Thursday, while Franken called reporters to talk about the prospects for a continued narrowing of the count....

They use Optical Scanners for hand filled out ballots in all the MN precincts.

It's beyond me why they don't use these everywhere. I have lived in a number of jurisdictions where they are used, and not only do they generate a verifiable paper trail, but they're pretty much idiot-proof and not prone to machine-related problems. (i.e. optical scanning is a proven technology, but if the scanner breaks, just count by hand.)

"The rats will cheat, lie and make crap up to win every time."

Yet, if a Republican so much as forgets to submit a receipt for a Happt Meal at McDonalds, choruses and headlines of "CHEATER" will be seen and heard from the MSM and DemocRATS.

Oh, hell, the solution is simple. Call McCain and he’ll suggest Franken and Colemen server as “co-senators”.

It’s very curious how they only find Dem votes.

Freep the vote thieves. The Dems may steal enough of these Senate races to get to 58 or even 59 Senate seats!

"It’s always so amazing when Dems run a “recount” that no new votes are ever found for the Republican."

How 'bout that "coincidence"??

And remember how the Dems stole a Washington State Senate seat a couple/few years ago in virtually the same scenario?

A ballot box that was left in someone’s car trunk election night containing 300 or so “votes” from a “minority” neighborhood will be “found” if past history in places like Washington state are any indication. Then they’ll stop counting.

That’s the way I see LBJ, it became clear to me in the same way as it did to you. He wanted the office of president and the only was he was ever going to get it was to get JFK out of the way. I have read almost everything about LBJ and that is the way I see him, there will be others along soon to say you and I are idiots.

Lyndon Johnson did, “win,” the 1948 senate race the same way Franken is doing it now! Is there no way to check and see if the,”exhausted,” worker really did make that incredible clerical error, or if it is simply a lie. This is the way elections are stolen, and it must be stopped.

They elected Jesse in the ‘90’s and the may elect Franken. Minnesota is such a joke and deserves to be laughed at.

Ya know, Prince should run for Govenor up there and those silly scandinavians would vote for him in a landslide.

The only thing I can conclude is the long term exposure to Lutefisk causes brain damage.

“Is there no decent, patriotic statesman of a Democrat on the planet.” ~ gore_sux_2000

No. Pogo was right.

“This was such an enormous Democratic year that even John Murtha won his congressional seat in Pennsylvania after calling his constituents racists.

It turns out they’re not racists — they’re retards. ..

Apparently Florida voters didn’t mind Obama’s palling around with Palestinian activist Rashid Khalidi and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, either.

There must be a whole bunch of retired Pennsylvania Jews down there. ..
