Anyone would think we had just elected a hip, skinny and youthful replacement for God, with a plan to modernise Heaven and Hell – or that at the very least John Lennon had come back from the dead.
The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. At least Mandela-worship – its nearest equivalent – is focused on a man who actually did something.
I really don’t see how the Obama devotees can ever in future mock the Moonies, the Scientologists or people who claim to have been abducted in flying saucers. This is a cult like the one which grew up around Princess Diana, bereft of reason and hostile to facts.
It already has all the signs of such a thing. The newspapers which recorded Obama’s victory have become valuable relics. You may buy Obama picture books and Obama calendars and if there isn’t yet a children’s picture version of his story, there soon will be.
Proper books, recording his sordid associates, his cowardly voting record, his astonishingly militant commitment to unrestricted abortion and his blundering trip to Africa, are little-read and hard to find.
If you can believe that this undistinguished and conventionally Left-wing machine politician is a sort of secular saviour, then you can believe anything. He plainly doesn’t believe it himself. His cliche-stuffed, PC clunker of an acceptance speech suffered badly from nerves. It was what you would expect from someone who knew he’d promised too much and that from now on the easy bit was over.

I could not have said this better myself. It’s not as though there wasn’t plenty of information out there on BHO’s radical associations, left-wing track record, and near total lack of accomplishment. What is truly beyond belief is the slavish devotion and complicity of the U.S. news media to BHO’s movement. Such sycophancy and brown nosing would have made Joseph Goebbels blush with envy. I expected BHO to do well among the urban proletariat who have longed for redistributionist economic policies, a blind eye towards illegal immigration, and a more lenient approach to law and order. What is truly shocking was that so many upper income and educated suburbanites so easily fell for BHO’s vacuous platitudes and media hype. Socialism and environmentalism are cool and hip. People who believe in limited government, lower taxes, free markets, and a strong defense are dummies in this New Order.

When he said that it sounded like chalk on a blackboard. And surely his speechwriters must know the meaning of the word enormity. If Bush had made any of these errors the press would have been all over him.

I was watching The Actor’s Studio last night and believe the guest host (Black comic whose name escapes me) was wearing a Malcolm X tshirt.
At the beginning our republic, only property owning males were granted the right to cast ballots. With the benefit of hindsight, I now see the wisdom of that model. After BHO “cuts taxes” for those who do not pay them, the mob will only demand more. We saw this in ancient Rome, when conquering generals pacified the urban masses with a steady stream of entertainment extravaganzas and free grain from the surrounding countryside. Christians were persecuted and idolatry and hedonism thrived to new heights. And the emperors acted like deities and were received as gods by the masses. Does any of this sound familiar?
I compare his supporters to those women who always fall for the guys who tell them anything to bed them then run off the next day. They fall for it everytime and it always has the same result. This is exactly what I think Obama is, that guy.
