Afghanistan: American journalist kidnapped by Taliban (NY Times reporter)

An American journalist was kidnapped by Taliban militants in the Afghan province of Logar, located 60 kilometres south of the capital Kabul. David Rohde, a journalist working for the US daily The New York Times, was abducted along with his driver and interpreter by a Taliban group known as Siraj Haqqani and has been taken to eastern Afghanistan, sources told Adnkronos International (AKI).

War-torn Afghanistan has seen a surge in kidnappings of foreigners by Taliban militants recently. On Monday, Canadian journalist Mellissa Fung was freed in Kabul after being held in captivity for four weeks by militants.

Maybe those Taliban are NYT shareholders.

Let the Marxist Messiah deal with it. If he wants to pretend he's president, then let him pretend to fix this.

I'll be watching the show.

American journalist kidnapped by Taliban (NY Times reporter)

Inaccurate headline. A reporter for the NY Times is not a journalist, but a shill for the Democratic Party.

One of his Wiki entries says that he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1996 for his search for a massacre in Srebrenica ~ which may or may not have happened on the scale then being touted by the New York Times and others.

He worked for the Christian Science Monitor at the time.

Frankly, based on this information I really can't tell if he's an investigative reporter OR a propagandist for hire.

So, yeah, torn emotions ~ I'm sure I can get over it though.

(NOTE: He got a degree from Brown university in 1990 ~ which makes him pretty much an extreme Leftwingtard at heart ~ else that place doesn't let you graduate ~ I think I'm going to get over this pretty soon now ~ maybe by 17:30 or so)

If it was my demon-crat brother, I would still pray for his survival, after praying for his salvation, of course.

It is good. Any problem at the Times should be cause for rejoicing.

The Times is the enemy as sure as the Taliban. The Times employee is an enemy the same as any rag head.

If he is killed there is no loss

I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to be in the hands of the Taliban. Remember what they did to Danny Pearl.

Only too true. Please forgive my callous remark above. It's the paper and editors that stink like a "leaky" pair of Depends.

Yes, thank you for being decent. Until this man is safe he deserves prayers up for him and his loved ones. If we forget to have compassion for a victim, we are no better than our opponents. Once he is safe we can get back to business.

Very uplifting to see the upswelling of patriotism and compassion as an American ends up in the hands of the jihadis. Warms yer heart, don’t it.

As one who regularly posts an anti-Sulzberger comment that I saved years ago, I must agree that the anti-American comments (they are nothing less) on this thread are disgusting.

Just in case any jerks (thank you, Sarah for bringing back this useful four [five in plural] letter word) think I love the Times here's the text of my usual post.

" ... the Times's new publisher, Arthur "Pinch" Sulzberger Jr ... was a sixties anti-war activist who famously declared that in a confrontation between an American and a North Vietnamese soldier he'd want to see the American get shot."
Unquote.

This story has no merit. There are no jounalists working for The New York Times.

“Kidnap”, my foot. The Times “journalist” is on the terrorists’ side. And they know it.

My prayers are with him and his family. Having said that sincerely, I sure hope any of the military secrets that might be employed by his potential rescuers haven’t already been published in the NYT ...
