Pete Sessions Takes a Swipe at Cole's NRCC Fundraising (Sessions making his case for NRCC)
The Hill ^ | November 10, 2008 | Jackie Kucinich

Rep. Pete Sessions (Texas) is promising to bolster House GOP fundraising efforts if he is chosen to replace Rep. Tom Cole (Okla.) as head of the National Republican Congressional Committee.

In a letter sent to House members on Monday, Sessions wrote that the NRCC needs improvements in various areas, including fundraising, recruiting, messaging, organizational strength and long-term strategies and tactics.

Sessions acknowledged that the NRCC would be again at a disadvantage on fundraising in the 2010 cycle, but is vowing to close the cash gap with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

“We may not be able to overcome the other side’s funding advantage in just one campaign cycle,” Sessions stated. “However, we cannot allow our candidates or the NRCC to be outraised as badly as we were last cycle if we are to regain the House.”

Sessions, who declared in September he would seek the NRCC chairmanship, emphasized the need for the committee to work closely with elected GOP leadership and that the groundwork must begin for the 2010 elections within the next few months.

No no no no no - a thousand million times NO!

He’s my rep, he’s not been too bad until late, when he’s show a disturbing hard RINO bent. He voted for the bailout and to give the Dems cover.

I did not vote for him this time and I WILL NOT donate to any cause he chairs.

This election itself makes the case. All the old leadership needs to go.

The bailout vote is a bad mark, but other great conservatives like Tom Coburn and Paul Ryan also voted for it.

The NRCC job is primarily about recruiting good candidates and fundraising, anyway - having a 100% ACU is not a prerequisite for this job.

I recently moved back to Oklahoma and have not heard much about Cole, but my few calls to his office have always met with snide, indifferent replies. I called and asked that he oppose the bailout and was the morning of the vote that “he’s still reading it.” It put me off. He voted against 90% of his constituency.

I am not aware of his other RINO traits but must dig through is voting record more.

True, but it should be. If the position is intended to recruit candidates, what kind of candidates do you think a RINO like Sessions will recruit?

Before NRCC gets any of my money again, they’ll have to commit to not hanging key candidates in key races out to dry in the final weeks. Cole’s NRCC hung Bachmann, Musgrave, and Feeney in the final hours. Nasty.

My radar went off when I saw the original by-line (by Jackie Kucinich).

Is the author related to one Dennis Kucinich? If so, is this a Democrat psywar piece trying to influence the GOPs business?

Reading through it...seems like there’s a Boehner subtext.

Just my .05 (.02 adjusted for Obamanomics)

Pete Sessions would have done a much better job IMHO. I agree with Sessions.

Found out yesterday that Cole promised Cong Feeney of Orlando money for advertisements for the last two weeks but didn’t deliver. He found money for longtime cronies I bet.

Anyone have a list of the names of folks that went on the Caribbean cruise with Romney and Thompson? Now, that is the short list of names to start tossing out of the Big Tent!

Trust me as someone that knows him well and comes from his district. He may go down in history as the most inept NRCC Chair ever.

As for trying to get anything out of his office, forget it. He doesn’t care what we think. Arrogance is a trait that I cannot stand and he personifies the word. He has the worst staff by far of any of our Congressional offices.

Ask the people at Tinker AFB what they think of Cole and it is not much. They loved JC Watts who was always visiting Tinker.

I am not giving one penny to NRCC until I see a major change as well. They hung a bunch of Freshman Congressional people out to dry while taking care of Cole’s good old boys. The consultants he hires are all his good friends as well.

Same with Kay Granger. She voted both times for that POS. Her and Cornyn did not get my vote because of that.

Cole was dreadful, only the head of the Senate recruitment was worse. They ALL need to go.

You are correct, but we don’t need “Bailout” Sessions either.

Cole wants another term? For serious?! Jeez.

RINO Tom Davis did well in the role.

Reynolds and Cole both failed miserably.
