SAN FRANCISCO (Legal Newsline)-Being a trial lawyer is the noblest profession in America, some 500 lawyers who gathered here for the annual Consumer Attorneys of California convention heard from one of the nation's most famed plaintiffs' attorneys.

Lawyer Gerry Spence, who was awarded the CAOC Lifetime Achievement Award, told conference attendees that legal representation is essential, even more important than health care, for people.

"We have to redefine who we are: We are the most important people in America," Spence said. "There is no other profession in America that fights for freedom, that fights for what America is about, that fights for justice for ordinary people."

Right. Get enough trial lawyers to sue enough doctors and pharma companies and we'll all live forever. John Edwards will be our personal savior.

What pukes.

Absolutely! And since we as citizens have a right to an attorney, their fees should be as regulated as physicians, dentists, etc so that all citizens have equal access to their skills...its only fair right,,,?

A couple of my favorite lawyer jokes:

What happens when a lawyer takes viagra? He gets taller.

What do you get with a dozen lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

Right. Remember that the next time you have some chest pain, Spence. In fact, why don’t you call your MD now and just clarify how much better you are right up front. That way, when you need some life-saving measures, the Doc will remind you who is most important, and hopefully leave you hanging, numbnuts.

I’d put about at least 100 professions ahead of lawyers.

1. Military. Who the fork do you think keeps this country safe so you can charge 300-500 dollars an hour, nutbag?

2. How bout your clients? You guys wouldn’t be working to ‘fight for freedoms’ if there were no cases. You are hired guns, you are mercenaries, and ambulance chasers. You don’t take cases you have any doubt of winning.

The only reason you guys are necessary is because you have turned ‘the law’ into something the common man can’t get a fair shake at justice with, representing himself.

Imagine a world without lawyers. Only the lawyers shudder at the thought.

They wouldn’t pi$$ on the people they represent unless they can make millions off of their misery. What a worthless disgrace. Spoken like a true lying, parasitic lawyer... hope he enjoys his special place in hell.

"Consumer Attorneys of California" is one of those new Orwellian weasel phrases the various crooked shyster groups have rebranded themselves with. It used to be the California Trial Lawyers.

My other favorite is the American Association for Justice. No, that's not Superman's group of super-friends, but the disquised new name for the despicable Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Spence said. "There is no other profession in America that fights for freedom, that fights for what America is about, that fights for justice for ordinary people."...yeah, and for every lawyer fighting for justice for ordinary people there are five trying to figure how to screw the ordinary guy and and help themselves to his money and rights - as for example the cadre of legal brains working night and day even now to make sure Obama's birth certificate never gets reviewed by the ordinary people........

Who can not agree with courageous man who is willing to take months at a time to travel to the most remote parts of the world at his own expense. Braving unknown dangers to trekking through jungles, wastelands, and poverty stricken slums to bring aid, comfort and healing through his miraculous legal arguments...... Oh wait no....Hmmm... seems that would be doctors who brave the uh jungles and such to heal the sick. Never mind.
