Ga’s black AG, Thubert Baker, may try to capitalize on the Obama Administration by saying, “Elect me I’m black like Obama.”

I suspect in 2010 and 2012, we will see a boon of black Dems running for statewide offices in many states.

Baker’s not mentioned as a candidate, actually. He is now one of only three remaining Democrats in statewide office, holding onto the AG office based solely on the power of incumbency (ironically, a Republican held it prior to Baker, Michael Bowers, the first Republican in a statewide office in the modern era after his party switch — and he was expected to run for and win the Governorship back in 1998, but was destroyed by his affair and lost the nomination). It was Zell Miller who appointed Baker when Bowers resigned in ‘97.

However, the other statewide Black Dem official, Labor Commissioner Mike Thurmond, is mentioned as a possible candidate. Of course, 2010 may end up a serious backlash against Dems (and Black Dems, potentially even more so) when the False Messiah reveals himself an incompetent bust, as many of us expect. Ex-Congresswoman Denise Majette is also mentioned, but she was a bust in running against Johnny Isakson back in ‘04. Even the Dems kept a Black from running against Chambliss this year, and went with a rich White guy (of course, Chambliss wouldn’t even be in a runoff had he not gone native in voting for both shamnesty and the bailout).
