This guy is delusional... THe RATS will most certainly try to impose some “fairness and neutrality” doctrines on the airwaves and web.

Actaully a fair article and he may be correct....Rush & Hannity gets a LOT of mileage out of this.
Why bother...the Libs own the TV and the Papers and as we’ve seen...they rolled over Conservative talk radio AND the majority of catholic & jewish voters.

Further in the article, Rainey makes two important points:
1. There is no need for the “Fairness Doctrine”
2. It is not likely to be pushed hard, despite comments to the contrary by Schumer and Bingaman.
In fact, here is a direct quote from the article:
“I think Rush and the boys have it right on this one: The free market offers plenty of room for liberals to have their say, even in an era when the vast multitude of radio stations are owned by a few conglomerates.”

false alarm ???
What are those strange sound bites they play from different democrats if this is a "false alarm?" Because they are not making them up, nor upon examination quoting out of context.

Conservatives need to be ready with Fairness Doctrine counter-action plans now, to be fully ready to launch instant legal claims against all MSM outlets for 'balance' articles, audio and video. We need our lawyers at the ready with solid templates and back up plans. We need clearinghouses for actioning against biased MSM pieces. We'll fill 50% of MSM product and load their lawyers and the courtrooms with fairness claims. Get 'er done.

Obama is an extreme socialist. If he gets everything on his wish list, he will eventually come for the MSM.
And by the time our intelligent media figures it out, they’ll already be in jail...

Democrats like Bingaman have made it clear they do not view the Fairness Doctrine as politically feasible. Well, Gee, Gomer, the main reason that it's NOT "politically feasible" is that we've raised it as an issue!
So to say that we don't need to talk about it because it's not feasible, is stoopid.

No problem. Just put all the Left wing Kook shows on starting at midnight.
That's how TV stations dealt with it back in the 60's. I'd be watching some crappy movie on a Sunday night(1) then at commercial time some weirdo with a goatee, sunglasses and Frenchie beret would come on and speak his *dissenting viewpoint* and get his 'equal time' per FCC regs.
(1) (for a very short time after graduating HS I worked 3rd shift in a factory so my 'days' were nights.)

There is no question whatsoever the Dems will try to re-impose the fairness doctrine. It would bankrupt a lot of radio stations that would be forced to put on left wing talk radio that would have no sponsors due to zero ratings.

If the left wing is gearing up for such a push, I had trouble detecting it. A search of the liberal Daily Kos website turned up almost no mentions of the Fairness Doctrine. And the site's founder, Markos Moulitsas, said by e-mail Thursday that he sensed "zero impetus" to make the change. A search of these same sites prior to the Amnesty bill last year would have had the same results. The amnesty deal was essentially a bolt from the blue. That is the way it works when the politicians are eager for something for their own purposes. The Fairness Doctrine would be a similar bolt from the blue.

I think the guy is right. The Fairness Doctrine is a RED HERRING. The justification for the implementation of the original fairness doctrine (limited broadcast stations and sources for unbiased political information) simply don't exist any more.
Any attempt to reinstate the FD would result in a constitutional crises and huge lawsuits from hundreds of media conglomerates.
The left wing whack jobs would love nothing more than for us to cower in fear and give in to a Marxist policy or two in "exchange" for backing off the Fairness Doctrine.
We are acting like frightened children hiding under our beds.
