Obama's First Big Mistake (By his fan Mark Cuban)
Huffington Post ^ | NOVEMBER 13, 2008 | Mark Cuban

Posted on 11/15/2008 9:33:56 AM PST by RobinMasters

Its great to see President-elect Obama aggressively taking on the economy prior to his taking office. Unfortunately, the economic the economic advisory team that he has put together looks more like a semester's worth of great guest speakers for an MBA class than an economic advisory team that can truly help him.

There are a lot of great minds on the list:

Robert Rubin, Larry Summers, Laura Tyson, who served as Clinton's top economic adviser; former Fed Vice Chairman Roger Ferguson; Time Warner Inc. Chairman Richard Parsons; former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman William Donaldson and Xerox Corp. Chief Executive Officer Anne Mulcahy.

Google Inc. CEO Eric Schmidt, Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm and Roel Campos, an ex-SEC commissioner, and Warren Buffett are also on the advisory board.

Notice anything missing?

For anyone to fix this economy, the first requirement is aiming for the goal of growing it and getting the Government out of the way.

Obama wants to destroy the economy, not fix it.

We can’t tax our way out of a recession/depression.

Was there anyone in Bush's admin who did this?

Interesting. Mark Cuban is a pompous @ss but he’s on to something here. Obama is stacking his deck with more of the same.

These are the kinds of people who've done the very kind of thing that Obama himself values most. They've become famous and made lots of money.

Larry Summers? Is the press, which helped drive Summers out of Harvard for being an untouchable sexist, going to raise that issue? Permit me to doubt it.

You mean take control of what is left of the economy. He wants CONTROL, utter and complete, and nothing less. He knows all, sees all and is much smarter and cooler. Just shut up and send all of your money to him and he will redistribute it back, maybe not to you but to his cronies for sure.

Cuban is a quirk, but a smart one.

Hate his politics, but he is a business and marketing genius.

He began a series of small, independent oil exploration companies.[32] He created Arbusto Energy,[33] and later changed the name to Bush Exploration. In 1984, his company merged with the larger Spectrum 7, and Bush became chairman.[32] The company was hurt by a decline in oil prices, and as a result, it folded into Harken Energy.[32][34] Bush served on the board of directors for Harken.

He purchased a share in the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in April 1989, where he served as managing general partner for five years.[38] He actively led the team’s projects and regularly attended its games, often choosing to sit in the open stands with fans.[39] The sale of Bush’s shares in the Rangers in 1998 brought him over US$15 million from his initial US$800,000 investment.[40]
