A 19-year-old Florida man committed suicide live on a Web cam, encouraged by those who were watching, according to reports.

Abraham K Biggs, of Broward County, took an overdose of pills while broadcasting himself on Justin.tv, a live video streaming Web site.

Biggs used the Web site to stream footage from his bedroom and told users he would be committing suicide and invited them to watch live.

From what I have read elsewhere many people called the police but they were having problems getting the cops to take them seriously.

When I went there, I started getting pop ups in the bottom left corner like the ones you get when you have MSN messenger(or yahoo messenger) running and you get an email, but they were from (fake) females claiming they had sent me a message...maybe it’s just me. Anyone else?

Don’t know if that was accurate or not though.

Not sure because it’s been so long ago, but I believe his press conference was scheduled to be carried live on the local PA TV stations’ 6pm news. And back then, that was THE NEWS, no cable news networks, etc. I KNOW they never showed the whole thing again. They always cut the film off where the press gasps when he pulls the gun and points it at his head. I saw it in my kitchen fixing dinner and at first, thought it was a joke.

It was something like the 8th time he had threatened to kill himself, each time afterward making light of it. The members of that forum thought he was an archetypal “emo troll” - people who pretend to be depressed and threaten to kill themselves in order to be entertained by the reaction of others. It is an internet disease paramount among all forms of trolling, and unfortunately masks cases where disturbed individuals really do have a deathwish.

When your first few outpourings of sympathy are met with “hahaha, you sucker fag0ts fell for it, LOLOL” your tolerance starts to go down. I doubt anyone watching actually thought they were witnessing a suicide until the opera went on longer than its usual running time.

Some people exhibit massive pleasure by seeing other people in pain. I suspect the people egging him on were those types.

I think whether suicide is a sin depends upon the circumstances of the act.
If one is mentally ill and severely depressed and commits suicide, I do not think that is a sin.
That’s like saying someone who died from cancer committed a sin."

I am going to do my best to convey this as gently as I can. What is sin? Sin is any act outside of the will of God. Human beings exist and are created by God's will and for his pleasure. By committing suicide, a person rejects the gift of life that is given by God. Yes there are people out there committing suicide for an imbalance in their physiology, but consider Romans 3:23
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

We are all born uniquely sinful and separated from God. We all have different struggles. We should not capitulate to those struggles, but die to our sinful nature daily and look to God, not ourselves, for salvation. This guy looked to himself for salvation. Now God will judge his heart in the final moments of death, and it is not our place to stand in judgement, but we can be discerning, nonetheless.

expectations - reality = happiness

Depression feeds upon itself. At some point people fear life more than they fear death. At that point all they need is a system.

For some time I have wondered why people in the US kill themselves. They have shelter, food and health, compared with those in worse places, like Somalia. People need to count their blessings.

dont know why live either. can not help but wonder if he watched the movie “untraceable” (though it was about a serial killer)http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0880578/
some peeps say it was boring, others say gory. it was a well done film (grahic in parts, but not horror style) and a movie with a ending that makes you think about the internet and desensitization....
i am grateful he did not take any one with him. i dont understand the need some have to take as many as they can with them when they die.

They’re using pop-unders that exploit your javascript and put stuff on the screen that are not technically pop-ups.

Happens in quite a few sites.
