Must Conservatives Rally Round the Messiah?
Pajamas Media ^ | November 22 | Bernard Chapin

Posted on 11/22/2008 10:26:12 AM PST by AJKauf

Several associates of mine, aware of my red-state predilections, approached me after the black day that was November 4 and demanded my allegiance — I’m serious — proclaiming, “He’s your president so you should stand behind him.” I thanked them but rebuffed their suggestion.

None of these individuals ever saw fit to do the same for our 40th, 41st, and 43rd presidents, so by what precedent should they expect special treatment for their Barackstar? None of which I am aware. Their hypocrisy is hardly surprising. The left’s approach to their opposition lacks consistency, honor, and responsibility as they see those traits as being anachronistic and possibly even Eurocentric (the horror!).

To hardened Obamabots, all questions regarding their savior’s goals are illegitimate. Those who battle them either possess false consciousnesses or are evil, and should this dichotomy not be immediately evident, then all heretics will be dismissed as rednecks, evangelists, racists, or whatever ism is on the menu...

Absolutely! If Duh Obama becomes a Libertarian, cuts taxes, cuts federal spending in half and makes Governor Palin a member of his cabinet.

Snork! (That’s ha-ha) What is really getting to the Obamabots is the fact that here we are, long after the election - and President George W. Bush is STILL the real President - and WILL BE until after the middle of January, TWO-THOUSAND AND NINE! I love it!

SAY IT, D.U.! President George W. Bush

President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama. Snork! Snork! Snork!

This may not solve anything, but it may help to teach lessons

So many lessons, so little time...we only have 4 years! So DOUBLETIME is called for!

It astounds me when people so casually admit to civil, or even voluntary social, relations with a liberal. I might as well be hearing: "My buddy the child molester..."

So true! I also used to actually go out to lunch with some! No more!

One thing liberals do is accuse the opposition of doing things that they in fact are doing themselves. This gives them cover and puts the opposition on defense.

I remember one of Obama's speeches where he told the crowd not to be "bamboozled" by the McCain campaign. See the tactic?

The flim-flam man telling people not to be bamboozled.

Hey we can complain about the white part that he has forgotten. Otherwise he’d be somewhat balanced and concerned about us non muslims and whatever we are to them.

W campaigned on no nation building but things changed and he seemed compelled to follow through to prevent terrorism from growing. An arguable plus negated by unchecked spending and his damned non confrontational don't give a rip nonsense.

Ann Coulter said it best, to paraphrase, Obamachev can expect the same support from the right as W got from the left.

“No. Conservative should rally ‘round the Constitution!! “

Correct.
And we also should support the office of the President and the holder of that office in their authority to discharge their duties.
But we do not have to support any of his policies which are contrary to the Constitution or God's law.

For my nation's sake, I hope he makes good decisions.

And then I hope that President Palin starts making much better decisions in 2013...

“Your facts are undeniable. Your conclusion is accurate...now who’s our leader during the implementation phase? The GOP (RNC) are RINOs.”

“Don't follow leaders, watch the parking meters.” Just kidding. Waiting for a leader to emerge from the Washington elite is like waiting for Godot. I really feel betrayed by the Republicans who have squandered the opportunity when they had control of government. We need conservatives with intelligence, courage and a strong sense of values. But, you're right, I don't see any right now.

I think we should “rally around” Obama when, and only when, he makes decisions in the best interests of the nation. If, for example, he decides not to close Guantanomo, or he reappoints Gates as Defense secretary, I will support him. When he tries to “bankrupt” coal plants that produce half of our electricity, or force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions, or deny workers the right to a secret ballot election before joining a union, or otherwise ruin the greatest country on earth, I think we should oppose him fiercely and explain to the people the damage he is doing.
