CBS/AP ^ | Dec. 3, 2008

Posted on 12/03/2008 11:15:36 AM PST by george76

A top General Motors executive repeated claims Wednesday that the auto giant may not make it to New Year's Day if Congress doesn't approve a federal bailout for the beleaguered industry.

"We've seen … not only continued pressure in our business but the pace of deterioration has accelerated. October and November were just the worst levels we've seen post-World War II."

Lol, a good one. We already pay people to ‘not grow’ certain things and we pay welfare to those who sit on their butts.

The auto makers lived the high life all these years, let them work their own way out of the dilemma just as we would have to do.

Exactly. I dunno why anybody would buy a crappy GM auto when there are plenty of quality, American-made autos such as BMW, Subaru, and Honda.

Adios GM!!!

GM Warns It Won't See New Year Without Aid

Yeah? And with the aid how long will it be before you are back in Washington demanding more money? Groundhogs Day?

And then St. Patrick's Day. And then Easter. And then Memorial Day......

GM, Ford and Chrysler have spent the last 30 years making cars that were subpar when compared to imports, and now they expect the public to have a sense of regret when they’re about to have their long overdue date with chapter 11?

Americans have already voted with their pocketbooks. Take a look in most any parking lot and you’ll see what the results of the election were.

I wish I lived in Detroit. I'd go through the parking lot at GM, Ford and Chrysler and see how many Toyotas, Nissans, Volkswagens, etc. are in the parking lot.

And then I'd go to the UAW Headquarters parking lot and see how many Lexuses, Mercedeses, BMWs, etc.......

You forgot to mention that the UAW gets help which supplies votes for dems!

Too bad GM!

These guys should be fired simply for the way they have to be hurting sales with all this adverse publicity.

***But Chrysler said it needed $7 billion by year's end just to keep running. And GM asked for an immediate $4 billion as the first installment of a $12 billion loan, plus a $6 billion line of credit it might need if economic conditions worsen.***

I call BS but if it's not then, adios GM and Chrysler.

.

GM started making Saturns to compete with Honda, Toyota, etc

Saturn Division has never made a profit yet!

Corvette started in 1953 - it was profitable by 1958

Oldsmobile is GONE

GM is looking at dropping Pontiac now - the Aussie Pontiacs are a hot fast good handling car now sold in the USA

The Olds joined the DeSoto

GM, Ford, Chrysler have been making unprofitable cars for decades now

Japanese and German cars make profits - made in the USA - no union legacy contracts

A good early example:

The ‘55 Corvette was outsold 4 to 1 by the ‘55 T-Bird

But the 2-seater T-Birds were discontinued in 1958 for the Big-Birds

The democrats and mr. creepy are forcing through the “card-check” voting system

If Foreign cars made in the USA at $48 an hour are forced to go union - They will have the $78 an hour costs of GM

Average US worker costs are only $24 an hour

Unions are Commie scams for crooked union leaders and politicians!

You are the expert on all of that. Don’t know how you remember it all but you do.

I hate to see people lose jobs but looks like they are in many industries now anyway. We can’t bail out everyone.

The Rust Belt is like upstate New York and Buffalo

Old union labor manufacturing and liberal politican’s greedy taxes killed the Golden Egg

Auto maufacturer’s were paying unskilled labor over $15-$18 an hour to wipe off the dashboards of completed cars in the late 50’s

It go worse

Move, adapt, or die

Card-Check will kill American businesses all over the USA

GM should sell out to BMW or Mesedes and move all corporate headquarters to Berlin Germany

Move into only non-union plants in SC and AL

I was going to mention the ‘northeast’ in my remark but didn’t. Why is the north east so big on unions, just because it’s liberalized?

Heading for bed.

Northeast

It’s a fight between crooked NYC and crooked union bosses

It spread to Chicago and the Left Coast

Yet the liberals sucessully sold the lie that Wall Street and NYC firms are all run by conservative Republicans

Receipts and signed written contracts are avoided by many of the NYC bunch

It’s a historic method of business that goes back centuries in Europe and enfects politics there and in the USA

Anyone who disputes this need only look at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers, CityBank, etc.

Affirmative Action ACORN adopted and collaborated and the result is seen on CNBC - DOW

I’ve been getting emails writing off those groups who vote and voted 70%-90% Plus for mr. creepy

They are saying - do not ask for our support in countries abroad anymore

They picked their future

No more worldwide 911 police or support
