Bobby Jindal and the GOP Don’t Believe in Evolution
US NEWS ^ | 12-4-08 | Farell

Posted on 12/04/2008 7:05:01 PM PST by Wegotsarah.com

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's recent trip to Iowa, where they hold those presidential caucuses every four years, leads me to suspect he may share the media speculation that he could be the Next Great Thing in the Republican Party.

It also reminded me how Jindal signed a dumb and devious bit of legislation last summer, allowing local school districts to promote alternative (i.e., religious) doctrines in their science curriculums when it comes to evolution.

Jindal is obviously one bright guy. How can he equate ancient creation myths with the hard facts of physics and biology?

One might think that the Republicans learned something from the drubbing they took in the 2006 and 2008 elections. But like Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee (and John McCain in 2008), Jindal is apparently happy to cater to the religious right, even if it means teaching superstition in the classroom

Evolution is a failed theory at this point and has no place being taught as science anymore than the “sun is a pile of burning coal” theory that predated nuclear fusion. Like most other parts of the liberal faith any attempt to engage in scientific debate is met with intellectual witch burning. The left is systematically conducting scorched earth tactics against anyone who does anything other than mouth their atheist dogma. There is little point in getting into a detailed analysis of the science liberals love to ignore to maintain their own worldview, but anyone who studies both sides of issues like evolution or climate change with a scholarly perspective soon realizes that the entrenched theories do not adequately explain the data.

I believe in GOD and HIS word, including the story found in Geneses. I believe that the theory of evolution is the devils antitheses for the creation story. Just say’ in. ;-)

What they fail to recognize is that time is on our side

This idiot clearly doesn't realize that time is on the side of the Christians, who actually procreate instead of murdering their offspring. The pro-homosexual, stem cell researching, brown skinned atheists are aborting all the future socialists.

All we have to do is wait.

Fine. Shut up and wait then. As long as y'all shut up.

>The pro-homosexual, stem cell researching, brown skinned atheists are aborting all the future socialists.

I used to think that would be enough to wipe them out too, but I no longer believe this since Obama was elected. The main reason why is because Christians in the majority are raising their children with values just like the fallen, sinful world. You can’t tell most Christian children apart from the non-Christian children anymore, except for a minority of homeschoolers and those who quietly teach their children the Word and the power of prayer. They go to the same schools, they watch the same sinful movies and tv shows, they listen to the same worldly music, they wear the same revealing clothes instead of modest clothing, etc.

As long as Christian children are being raised with the teachings of atheists they’ll be susceptible to “Government is the answer” solutions put forth by the socialists and communists.

I believe in God, that he created the world and everything in it — did it His way...and didn’t ask for my advice or permission.

Scientific facts, like Global Warming? I'm so sick of these intolerant bastards who degrade everybody who doesn't think like them and then have the stones to call others “intolerant”.

The younger generations overwhelmingly support gay marriage, abortion rights, stem cell research, universal healthcare, etc.

Yeah, and then they grow up (hopefully).

Immature, inexperienced, foolish young people DO believe a lot of stupid crap.

Could it be that Republicans find that the quest for power is not as important as the quest for truth?

Believe it or not, the creation story is an allegory for evolution, in my opinion.

Jesus spoke in parables. The Bible is written in allegory.

I think the creation story tells us that the self realization we have is both a blessing and a curse. Your cat still lives in the Garden of Eden. You do not, because you are aware that you are alive and will someday die. So every sickness you have and every pain you feel reminds you of your mortality. When your cat feels pain, it does not worry about death, getting older, getting sicker, etc. But since you have evolved a more complex prefrontal cortex, you can never experience the "ignorant" peace that most other animals feel by default.

It's actually a beautiful explanation of what it means to be human. The fact that it was written by ancient man who knew nothing of evolution is quite amazing.

Religion and science are not at odds, and the continuous feuding is unnecessary and upsetting.

I’m one of them there crazy bible literalists. If God said he created the whole thing in six days and propped his feet up on the seventh, who am I to argue. If the firsts verses of the Bible are incorrect, the whole bible is suspect. Believe the first verse or forget the rest and believe whatever fits your lifestyle.

Whatever floats your boat.

I also believe that the Bible is the literal truth, word for word. Some things were said in parables, but that isn’t a license for us to read whatever we want into it to fit modern secular humanism.

Jesus didn’t always speak in parables. Not all the Bible is allegory.

“Study to show thyself approved, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

The Bible has different dispensations that we need to study to understand the ways of God. Not all passages are addressed doctrinally to Christians or have an application in this age of grace. Some passages do.

In depth studying and rightly dividing these dispensations is what God wants the Christian to do to understand His Word.

Evolution is the johnny come lately approach to understanding the foundation of the universe and world. The really fascinating story is in between the covers of the most incredible Book ever written.

You can believe in evolution and god, just not the God of the Bible. Biblically, the two concepts are incompatible.

I don’t see why christains can’t believe in both. I’m a christain and I figure God had to create the earth somehow and evolution is probably how he did it.

It's not incorrect. It's an allegory, very much like the parables that Jesus told.
