Actually, I find a lot of young conservatives . . . and not the “religious right” . . . that never drink. They may not be for prohibition, but they don’t partake.

Although I'm religious right, I'm one of the young conservatives that doesn't partake. Too much baggage associated with it. But I always thought prohibition was stupid and gave us the mob as it is now. I view most drug laws similarly. Mobsters and politicians profit immensely from the illicit drug trade. In fact, I often think that the whole illegal immigration thing is really about drug running. Think about it. You've got a situation where the border is open, so drugs can flow in freely. However, the cops will conduct para military no-knock raids to catch the drugs after they're in the country. This element of risk keeps the price high but it's still easy to get them in. And who makes it easy to get them in? The federal government. I wonder who's profiting illicitly from illegal drugs in government? I'd almost bet my last dollar it's a lot of quite powerful people.

I drink. I also brew. Anyone that thinks that alcohol is evil should be reminded that Jesus’s first miracle was turning water into wine... and why would Jesus produce something evil?

And they’re the next prohibitionists as soon as they get drunk with power.

Which isn’t really Biblical. Jesus Christ drank fermented wine.
