McCain scolds GOP for whacking Obama
Politico ^ | 2008-12-14 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/14/2008 7:40:23 AM PST by rabscuttle385

In a surprising rebuke to the warriors who fought for him through tough times, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Sunday sided with President-elect Barack Obama and scolded the Republican National Committee for fanning the Illinois corruption scandal.

On ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked: “The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mike Duncan, has been highly critical of the way President- elect Obama has dealt with this.

"He's had a statement every single day, saying that the Obama team should reveal all contacts they've had with Governor [Rod] Blagojevich. He says that Obama's promise of transparency to the American people is now being tested. Do you agree with that?”

McCain replied: “I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody — right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together, not only on an issue such as this, but on the economy stimulus package, reforms that are necessary. And so, I don't know all the details of the relationship between President-elect Obama's campaign or his people and the governor of Illinois, but I have some confidence that all the information will come out. It always does, it seems to me.”

McCain is a nut.

I guess America didn't feel like a nut. They elected the Mounds Bar.

It’s just a shame they couldn’t both lose.

Ummm, because the GOP has done a boffo job on messaging and focus the past several years? When you have a media that carries water for the other team you don’t get too many chances to take a stand.

McCain was doing just fine until the financial crisis hit. He was hammering on issues of character, celebrity over substance, energy policy and even brought up Rezko. People were doubting Obama then the Palin PR problems began (great job fighting back GOP) and they couldn’t find a message that worked for the banking mess.

Think the results had been different if they had said, No Bailout! and hammered that all the way home?

McCain didn't help his cause with that little stunt of his, suspending his campaign to fly back to Washington, to do....nothing.

I know people expect that the Repubs are supposed to act like partisan hacks since they lost the election but I think it is mistake. Nothing wrong with saying they will work with the guy more people voted for but there will be highly principled opposition to anything that expands government or weakens us. Leadership on issues isn’t just dragging your feet like the dems did while the Repubs hold power.

Senator McCain, to paraphrase Governor Blago, you are a bleeping idiot. There
Senator McCain, don't you feel better now that I'm learning the Chicago Ways so quickly?

Too bad McCain didn’t give up his Senate seat to run like Dole did.

McCain’s next news-worthy event—he changes parties—oh, wait, didn’t he already do that, BEFORE the election?!

God how I regret holding my nose and voting for this turd.

No, if you're like most of us conservatives, you voted against Obama. We did the best we could, with a lousy candidate, to stem the tide of socialism -- we thought.

It's looking more and more like the two candidates are/were interchangeable, as most of us feared, despite his using Palin as a foil.

At least McCain is now making many who voted for him feel better about his loss. Small consolation, that.

Mr. “Above the Fray” strikes again.

I will never forget his calling the Swifties dishonorable for basically speaking the truth about John Kerry.

John McCain is the “Republican” John Kerry - a constant source of embarrassment for the party.

Screw it, this guy has retroactively lost my vote. Are they leaving their wives for each other? Thank you Bush for demoralizing the primary electorate enough to allow this trash to win.

Boob Barr or Chuck Baldwin ‘08. Even the Mitt Miester looks better, at least he would probably think Obama is beneath him or something.

I think you nailed my thoughts on the matter right on the head.

At least whatever happens will be blamed on “The O” and the democrats.

You know what - I loathe Obama but I respect him more than McCain. Obama is in a criminal gang called the Democrat Party but at least he does not pi*s all over the other gang members or their brain dead voters.

McCain served in the Navy as a hero but he is an absolute a**h*le in the Senate. He makes me ill and I will donate to anyone who runs against him in the AZ primary. McCain has total contempt for Republican voters. He sickens me. I gave McCain money in 2008 but boy was that a waste.

McCain and other amnesty scum RINOs like Miss Lindsay Graham, Mel “scarface” Martinez, Charlie “I just got married” Crist and even amnesty Jorge Bush. We need to clone Sarah Palin. These Rinos are despicable.

“Well, he’s old enough we probably won’t have to put up with him much longer.”

Nope, as his mammy pointed out, he’s from a long-lived family. He’ll be annoying us into his 90’s along with Arlen Specter. We need new candidates NOW! I just don’t know when we’ll get them.
