WASILLA, ALASKA (Dec. 19) - The mother of the man engaged to Gov. Sarah Palin's teenage daughter was arrested at her home as part of an undercover drug investigation Thursday, according to the Anchorage Daily News.
The newspaper reports that Sherry L. Johnston, 42, the mother of Levi Johnston, faces six felony counts of "misconduct involving a controlled substance." The arrest came after Alaska State Troopers searched her home.
Law enforcement officials released little information to the paper, saying the investigation was continuing. The charges against Johnston include second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, which the Daily News says generally applies to "manufacturing or delivering drugs."
Johnston's son, Levi, appeared at the Republican National Convention beside Alaska's first family, as Gov. Sarah Palin was tapped as the vice presidential candidate.
Palin's daughter Bristol, 18, is pregnant, and the baby's due date is Saturday. Levi Johnston is the father, and the two are engaged, although no wedding plans have been announced.

When was the last time a liquor store owner attacked another liquor store owner with automatic gunfire over territory? I’ll take legal booze over illegal drugs.
“This is just the MSM taking another shot as Sarah, they will continue to do so, constantly trying to ruin her.”
Yep! That’s exactly what they will do. Plus, the Anchorage Daily News is liberally-biased, anyway. They hate Sarah.
Not to worry, though. We’re gonna win in 2012!!!!
SARAH PALIN, 2012!!!!
‘Sounds like a meth lab. ‘
Actually, I’d say this is most likely a proscription drug related offense, something along the lines of oxycotin.
A meth lab? Everybody for MILES knows it from the smell alone, thats why the new ‘trend’ for meth labs is inside of moving vehicles on expressways. Disperses the odor, and makes it impossible to follow that smell.
We’ll see...but I really doubt this is about a meth lab.
Probably one to three years before he screws it up and she throws him out on his ear...
Legit to link it to Sarah? B.S.
What this lady does is no reflection on Sarah. That would be akin to saying that, because your father-in-law has speeding tickets, your father must be a bad driver.
Sometime in the early 1930s
God her enemies are hateful people.
There is great spitefulness in these maggots.
I’d love to find out that this was a mistake, or a plant.
“Story linked to Governor Palin within the first 10 words.”
Yet 98% of the stories about Blago fail to even mention that he is a Democrook.
Without the link there would be no story. Now we can look forward to People magazine covers of Bristol Palin and little Zamboni visiting their paternal grandma in the slammer.
The mother doesn’t look haggard to me.
She looks like a middle aged woman, yes.
But not ravaged by meth.
I don't recall they had a choice. We bought them fair and square.
This is newsworthy but their should not be any negative implications for Sarah except that she is dealing with the same sort of problems all of us parents of teens deal with.
I agree that it’s a legitimate story: once. If it gets played and replayed for the next week and a half: not legit.
The future husband is a straight up guys from what I hear - works on the Slope as an apprentice electrician. Tough and cold work. I just hope these kids can survive the pubicity.
Since the mother of the bride isn't going to be vice-president, I'm predicting never.
Well, Bristol’s not married ... yet.
I question the timing of this report...

Not all. Fortunately.
My guess is marijuana. Alaska has the highest per capita marijuana usage of any state (almost twice as high as any other state.)
There aren’t that many cash crops in Alaska. Given the demand and difficulty getting anything up there from the lower 48, I would think marijuana would be a profitable business.
