Alaska or Texas...Texas or Alaska?
One has a hot climate, the other a hot governor. Both look pretty good, taxwise. Texas - I heard - has a clause where they can opt out of the union if they want...that might come in handy in the coming years.
Maybe Alaska should opt out and become their own country, with Sarah as President. They could prosper on oil sales alone...and without the greenie-meany restrictions and the liberals, it could be a great place to live.

I am right in the middle here in Indiana, ranked 24 of the 50.
But the article is wrong because Indiana's sales tax was raised to 7% months ago.The increased sales tax is supposed to offset property taxes which were getting out of hand, especially for people of limited income.
I have always thought the most evil tax is that which forced someone out of the home he or she had bought long ago.

Texas - I heard - has a clause where they can opt out of the union if they want Well they tried and failed in that effort in 1861-1865. They do have a clause which allows them to split into up to five separate states, with two senators each, without approval from Washington.

Alaska will stay with the Union - we fought hard to become a State 50 years ago.
If we could get rid of the Greenie law suits, we might even be able to work. THis laast week Shell closed all drilling efforts and laid off hundreds - thanks to the Center for Biological DIversity and Alasla Unemployment.
Even IF you belive the crap on GW, why should Alaska bear 100% of the downside? Calif produces far more pollution than AK - go after them....
