“How silly.
*Everybody* knows that *everything* revolves around *me*.”
Let me rephrase that.

He also says there is no difference between the Sun orbiting the Earth Salamander and the Earth Salamander rotating on its axis in place.

Better?

;-)

Of course he cannot back up that claim, but he still asserts that its true.

One wonders why they are so persistent, considering that these very same characters turn around and say, in the next breath, that nothing in science is true and the very word "truth" does not belong in a scientist's vocabulary.

David Hume could out-consume Schoppenhauer and Hegel.

This is quite possible, considering that Hume was an immensely bloated atheist glutton. Legend has it that he once fell into a bog and couldn't get out. An old lady recognized him as the famous fat atheist, and offered to help extricate his carcass, on the condition that he say an Our Father, which he did.

In his later years, the atheist philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre could be found in his favorite cafes eating his favorite breakfast of runny eggs and mayonnaise over and over. He would blather about communism while groping his female-fans' rear-ends, yolk and mayo streamed down his face.

Atheism is trying to have the box bigger on the inside than on the outside.

It just doesn't work.

The seminal question is:

"Can reality have degrees?

Of course. However reality generally diminishes sharply, depending on the field of study, at anything above an Associates' Degree. By the Doctorate level, the rift is nearly complete.

“…I want to ask here how this kind of language is being used today when scientifically-minded people tell us that parts are more real than the wholes that they belong to.”

Rationalization for all manner of liberal evil:

Abortion, for the selling of body parts for “scientific research”…
Euthanasia, and “brain death” for purpose of organ harvesting…
Cloning, and eventually rationalizing growing humans for spare parts…

Eliminating cultures, traditions, societies and nations, in favor of the all encompassing rights of the individual; an apparent contradiction until put in proper perspective: liberalism always seeks to destroy legitimate authority.

The institutions ordained by God are made up of many constituent parts, including human individuals; but liberalism inverts the natural order of hierarchy established by divine grace, thus making the “rights” of the individual always greater than the sovereignty of the whole. This destructive tendency against the natural hierarchy and toward disorder is demonstrable through history: the rights of the Church; the sovereignty of the Monarch; the legitimacy of the State; the Law of God (natural law and the moral code); God Himself… then finally, once the Revolution takes its final and most oppressive form, the individual. All fall to that most damnable vanity: the glorification of the self… “I” am God. The devil whispers and deluded men listen... but some dare call it natural intelligence. Belief in the supernatural, and, by inference, the demonic intellect who is prince of this Earth, they view with contempt, such folly being the fabrications of the unenlightened peasantry. So, “thinking themselves wise, they become as fools” ... and God obliges their pride, handing them over to a depraved mind.

The Revolution is a clever game of bait and switch, with each new phase of disorder building upon the chaos generated in the previous. Each new generation of men born into each successive and established paradigm of the Revolution are unable to know or see what has been lost to them from its previous permutation. Hence, the Revolution increases in power and appetite, devouring its children, and doing so with confidence in the indoctrination previously sowed.

Modern godless men are no different in their schemes than those that conceived and carried out the horrors of 1789 and 1917… only the subtleties and the face of the Revolution change… the philosophy and goal of the Revolution are constant, unrelenting and merciless: The hatred and abolition of God, the destruction of all good order in favor of anarchy so to achieve absolute equality and absolute liberty. “You shall not surely die; you shall be like God; you shall know as God knows” … The devil is still fooling vain and prideful humans with the same three ancient lies. Men, educated beyond their intelligence, still choose to eat the forbidden fruit, rather than glorify God their Creator.

So then, by definition, an “expert” is someone who knows more and more about less and less... until he knows everything about nothing.

More like an artesian well; or maybe a geyser.

Old Faithful comes to mind. Regularly spewing hot air and steam at predictable intervals.

"Actually, Dawkins’ problem is that he is not educated in what he professes to discuss. Any first-year philosophy grad student could take his arguments apart.....just as Socrates took care of Thrasymachus in Book I."

Really? Go for it.

"Really? When the heart stops pumping blood, oxygen is not longer to deliver to those “cobbled together, disconnected” cells and everything in the body dies. If you want to experience reality, stop paying your bills. Tell me how those “illusitory” effects work out for you."

"Just because simple organisms for complex systems, that does not make those complex systems illusions. Educated idiots indeed."

What is it you are arguing against?

"Dawson sounds autistic. The ones I’ve seen over the years all believe they are the only “real” being in the world and all others are “not.”"

Dawkins. He's not saying anything remotely like that.

Yes, there's a long history to it. Here, read this thread.
