My favorite thing about ordering from online retailers is screwing the government out of the sales tax revenue. This year we ordered from Amazon, Newegg, and Griffin Technology. Never paid for shipping and everything got here on time.

All I know is this: my new book, "48 Liberal Lies About American History" is selling at a faster clip than my best-seller, "A Patriot's History of the United States." In under three months, we've had FIVE printings, plus have a paperback edition scheduled.

I even heard the WaPo has now requested a review copy (not necessarily good, but it shows that demand has required they address it).

A large part of this is Amazon, where my book has been under 1,000 most of the time it's been out (and a high, as far as I know, of #60 when I was on "Fox and Friends"---could have been higher, but I had no way of checking a computer at that time). "Patriot's History" got up to #35 on Amazon, "America's Victories," my last book, reached #30 and #1 on the history list.

I did about 50% of all my purchases online, with Amazon my first stop. Looking back, I wish I’d done more shopping online - and that will be my plan for next year. I have many relatives out of town and let me tell you, it’s an attractive deal to have Amazon handle the shipping (free) right to the recipient.

Nope, it’s not giftwrapped, but at least the box has a smiley-face on it!

As a seller on Amazon, I know that sellers can’t offer free shipping or I’m sure some would. I sold a book on Amazon today for $7.99, Amazon allows $3.99 for shipping, sellers don’t get to set their shipping charges, that is preset by Amazon. The book weighs a little over a pound so I can ship it a little less expensive than that. So out of $11.98 total, Amazon receives $3.54 commission. Shipping and shipping supplies plus trip to post office will cost me around $3.40, after I pay my supplier I receive less profit than Amazon, sweet deal for them, o.k deal for me. I’m sure besides the great selection and great service Amazon offers, sellers on Amazon may have helped the profit margin quite a bit.

I did all of my Christmas shopping on Amazon this year. They had some terrific deals, and I even bought some presents for myself. ;-)

Great! I added to their bottom line. I love Amazon. They are easy to deal with and quick to get the purchases to you.

You are a male. You hate shopping. The weather has been lousy for weeks. What are you going to do? You’re going to shop on-line, that’s what. I suspect more and more males prefer the computer to tramping through snow and cold (and distance) to acquire gifts.

Chick-fil-a is a great business. Not only are their employees polite, they never seem to screw up your order and our local franchise gives back to the community in many ways. Not only that, they are closed on Sunday and it obviously doesn’t affect their profits. Good for them!

Explains why we don't see Chick-fil-A in the northeast...I really miss that place. :-(

We did some Amazon shopping this year because we’re in eastern Washington and have just been BURIED in snow. It’s been extremely difficult to get out to do any shopping, so we turned to online to fill in where needed.

I’m a bit curious as to whether the online sales figures (it’s not just Amazone that reported fair/good sales this holiday season) were partially boosted by the extreme winter weather that much of the country has had.

Also, our experience was not as good as some others here, not do to Amazon, but due to UPS. One of our main gifts got into our area on the 18th of December and has YET to be delivered. Now, I know they are dealing with the bad roads, too, but we’ve seen a number of UPS trucks on our street. You’d think they could manage to throw it on to one of them. If they don’t get it here today, I’ll probably have to call and just pick it up. And it’s not just me, but friends who had gifts that didn’t make it because of shipping delays.

Oh, and we have MORE snow coming for the weekend. Great!

I’m planning on buying almost everything that is taxed online after the idiot CA legislature increases our sales tax. Out of principle.

I’ve shopped at Amazon a lot in the past anyway - their prices are great and customer service is wonderful. And I don’t have to deal with all the illegals in the stores.

Same for me, but I'm a female. Not all women like to browse endlessly through stores either. Besides, I can browse on Amazon and search for what I want much easier than going to numerous stores to see the same items. (Of course, sometimes it's good to see the quality up close. I'll admit, I've looked a items in a store and then came home to buy them at Amazon for a lot less money.)

I am buying more and more items besides books at Amazon.

The selections are great and often at very good prices. Amazon apparently leans on its partners to make sure they ship on time and monitor their shipments.

I call bull$hit on a Depression. It may be a slowdown, but its NOT a depression

I dont call it a depression, slowdown, or a recession. I am calling it a Mediacession because the MSM want to pin something tragic and awful on George W Bush. They have been talking doom and gloom for so long that fear has set in among the weak and simple minded causing slowdowns in spending. Just imagine where we would be in the booming Bush years if they had been positive about his successes. One additional note if retail sale were as bad as the MSM would ask us to believe every Wal- Mart in America would have open even on Christmas day but instead they all closed early on Christmas eve.

I have also never gotten a hassle from Amazon for any return I've done.

Amazon is great on returns.

One time they apparently changed their format re free shipping and I missed checking off the for the free shipping.

I sent one email and got free shipping on the item.

I started using Amazon when the local bookstores and chains refused to carry conservative books.

Now everyone of those local bookstores are closed and the two chains.

A friend lives within walking distance to a new bookstore and ran into the problem of getting conservative books. He asked for copies of shipments of conservative books from Amazon from me a few other conservatives.

He took those copies into the owner/manager and told them they had better start carrying conservative books and knock off the liberal Dixie Chickmarketing business plan re not carrying conservative books. The store is now carrying and selling conservative books. I won’t go there because of the traffic and jammed parking lots. However, if I’m in that area I might drop in.

“It’s probably just Depression in Blue States like Michigan and New York, where they voted heavily for Obama and are ruled by Labor Thugs and Socialist politicians.”

We are starting to see California refugees returning from the Blue States due to lack of jobs and the constant liberal bs to take away any personal freedoms and/or choices in the Blue States.

Actually, it is to us. Our Prime membership cost $59, and...

How do you get yours for only $59? I pay $79 for a prime membership. It's still well worth it though. I've saved a bundle on shipping costs.
