Hundreds rally near Galleria against Gaza attacks

Hundreds of people lined the busiest intersection near the Galleria on Sunday, chanting and waving Palestinian flags to protest the Israeli bombing in Gaza.

"People are very upset, obviously. They are angry," said Said Fattouh, host of the radio talk show Arab Voices. "Nobody knows when it will stop."

The protest grew spontaneously, with several Arab-American organizations spreading the word. People said they heard about it through e-mail, text messages and telephone calls and traveled to the intersection of Westheimer and Post Oak to participate.

Members of the Houston Coalition for Justice Not War said they would hold a second protest at 4 p.m. on Monday at the Israeli Consulate.

“Israel said it attacked to stop leaders in Gaza, ruled by the militant group Hamas, from stockpiling weapons. Israel pulled out of the area in 2005 after occupying it for almost 40 years, but it still controls the borders.”

“A few protesters held both Palestinian and U.S. flags, illustrating what one of the organizers, Ibrahim Ashrawi, said was his hope for Houston’s Palestinian community — that it will work its way into mainstream American society, thereby gaining a voice. ...

His complaint is not with the Israeli people, he said, noting that many Israelis, including some Israeli soldiers, don’t support the occupation and continued conflict.”

What part of Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005 does Ibrahim Ashrawi not understand? He says that many Israelis don’t support an occupation that doesn’t exist. Although, in the next few days, Mr. Ashrawi might once again know what an occupation is, if Israel decides it has had enough and moves into Gaza again. This time it won’t be a friendly occupation.

Israel should bomb and strafe them every day for years.

Not cost effective. A rolling barrage of old fashioned artillery would be adequate.

A circumstance which cries out for water-filled balloons...

And a supply of shrink-wrapped doggie-doo

? From that sentence it sounds like the islam-a-nazis of Houston have a well oiled communications network and that their protest was anything but spontaneous.

Wow, the protest grew spontaneously. Apparently, at least in the feeble mind of journalistic genius Jeannie Kever, having several Arab-American organizations spreading the word through email, text messages and telephone calls is the epitome of "spontaneous"...

"It's really bad," said Sahar Abusada, who grew up in Gaza and had spoken to family members earlier Sunday. "Blood. Bodies. No food. No electricity."

blood (check), bodies (check), no food (huh? one day later...?), no electricity (check).

They are going nuts in Toronto. On one side of the street we have the terrorist supporters (and believe me, there are TONS of them up here) and across the street from them are the Israel supporters. It was very loud and angry.

Taking their emotions to the city streets could really set something off up here. Thankfully, Canada has officially sided with Israel, although not in the strong terms America did.

Reportedly the terrorists up here are going to keep on the Canadian government until they side with the Palestinians. In this land of political correctness, I really pray that Prime Minister Harper stands firmly behind Israel. This could get VERY ugly.

Besides, if these Palestinians are American citizens they have a voice. They can vote and everything.
