Just a note, Arabs and Iranians don't do this. Truly a horrific form of abuse as well as betrayal from mothers.

Islam is Satan’s religion, liberalism his political philosophy.

beaucoup Kurds here in Nashville.

Women are not really pretty like Ukranians or Italians...a few

hairy arms and very defensive daddies

and apparently brutal moms.

sad practice....why deprive a woman of sexual pleasure

hell, it’s what makes the world go around in some respects...for me anyhow

This link seems to indicate it is a considerable problem in much of the Arab world:

“Yemen, where FGM levels in some regions are known to reach 50 percent, is another example where progress is being made. A January 2001 ministerial decree banning FGM, combined with government and NGO concentration on the worst-affected areas, have, in the words of Jordan-based UNICEF communication officer Wolfgang Friedl, “considerably reduced the frequency of the practise in the space of only a few years.”

Further north in the Middle East, the record is considerably more patchy. Hampered by its policy of following up on an issue only if the local authorities themselves consider it important enough to investigate, the UN’s statistics on FGM peter out on the Egyptian-Israeli border.

Yet FGM is known to be practised throughout the Arabian peninsular, particularly in northern Saudi Arabia, as well as in southern Jordan and Iraq. A recent survey by the German NGO WADI, based in the Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaymaniyah, showed well over 60 percent of women in the rural area of Germian, about 150 km southwest of city, had been circumcised.

There is also circumstantial evidence to suggest that FGM is present in Syria. Then, of course, there is Iran. Given the frequency of the phenomenon in the tribal areas of Iraqi Kurdistan immediately adjoining the Iranian border, and the population's close familial and cultural links to the Kurds further east, it is only logical to assume FGM exists there too.”

Some Arabs do. Female genital mutilation is conducted by several groups, all of them Sunni. Beside a number of Sunni Kurdish communities, some Sunni Arabs in Jordan and Saudi Arabia are also doing this. Not to mention African Muslims.

Iranians (except some Sunni Kurds) don't do this, not at least because they are Shia. I can personally testify to that. Ahem.

Barbaric people! To do this to a little girl is terrible.

Kurds who support circumcising girls say the practice has two goals: It controls a woman's sexual desires, and it makes her spiritually clean so that others can eat the meals she prepares.

What utter BS.

In 2000, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the fourth in a series of Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) conducted in Egypt. This nationally representative survey of 15,648 ever-married women aged 15-49 found that the practice is nearly universal among women of reproductive age in Egypt. Preliminary analysis of the 2000 findings show that 97 percent of women surveyed have undergone one of these procedures, which represented no change from the 1995 DHS findings. The most severe form, Type III, is rare.

Considering this is the Washington post, I really doubt it is anywhere near the numbers given. That being said, even one should get someone shot and we need to remove all united states aid until they change the law.

“I do this in the name of Allah!”

That says it all, doesn’t it?

Here’s the joint press release from NOW, Feminist Majority, and other feminist organizations about this barbaric practice:

I don't think this FGM started with Islam. I think it started when men demanded to be in total control of women. In these tribal cultures where the man must always be in power, a woman who pleasures in sexual relations would undermine his absolute power over the woman.

At some point somewhere in history, some misguided man or maybe even woman, decided that to keep a woman from becoming a harlot, the pleasure point of sexual relations had to be destroyed. So FGM resulted.

These uneducated 9th Century goons and goonees don't want to know that science has determined that the sexual pleasure is “all in the brain” through the nervous system. If only they knew . . . they'd be chopping off nipples, ear lobes, the small of the back, various other pleasure points and removing a woman's brain.

Guess I shouldn't give them any ideas, huh?

I am loathe to repost this, but just in case you missed it?

The "instruments" some use in female genital mutilation? Coyly euphemized as "circumcision" by apologists...

They probably are at times, just not for this.

It's a seriously sick world view.
