Political capital

Obama comes to power with substantially more political capital than Bush did eight years ago, after the bitter Florida recount.

- - - - - - - - -

Jackass T.J. Gillman just HAD to get that in. Sheesh!!

God bless you, President Bush.

I didn't agree with all you did or tried to do, but I wish you the very best and thank you for fighting the war on terror against those that would destroy this great country.

I voted for him and would do it again, but the past couple of years he seemed to have lost his mind and was a huge disappointment. I blame him for what we have getting ready to take over in 10 days. His bailouts were nothing short of criminal. President Bush, I can’t figure you out but I do know you greatly disappointed me and I’m not sure I can forgive.

Mr. Todd J. Gillman, author of this piece of trash, failed to accuse President Bush of kicking puppies and using foul language in front of nuns. How can he call himself an objective journalist while leaving out these obvious well known facts? Doesn’t this guy watch TV news?

“establishing an enduring Republican majority”

Who the heck ever did any such thing? Not Reagan. Maybe Lincoln, but he had to almost literally fight a war against the Democratic party to achieve it.

Bush will always be alright in my book. He had the political courage to try big things, even though many of his policies were doomed to failure because his own countrymen did nothing but hamstring him every step of the way.

His biggest flaw: he was too much of a gentleman. He let his political adversaries' slanderous attacks on his character go unanswered, trying to be "above the fray." Instead, he allowed them to define him. He should have better utilized the bully pulpit to sock the whining sissies right in the nose. He should have exposed them for the cowards they are and left them feeling humiliated. He lost the PR war, and in this day and age, PR is everything in politics.

Thanks for the ping!

Count me as grateful for the security we felt with him at the helm & the example of honor, love & respect he showed to not only the wife, family & loved ones BUT the adversaries on the homefront

My greatest disappointment in him will be if he doesn’t pardon those two border agents. :~( It’s probably a tie for me with these bailouts.

President Bush has done so many things right. We all ought to be grateful.. but sadly many here are not.

I do think his biggest failure has been communcation and failure to defend what he has done. Failure to pin the blame on the donkeys for the economy for what they did. It was NOT his policies that gave us this recession. But you would never know it. Failure to defend folks on the whole Plame scandal.

I only wish he could communicate better so folks would know he really was a good, decent president.

Bush leaves a very small footprint,
for a two-term president.

other than two excellent (and one bad)
supreme court nominees,

Bush is forgettable

“But Obama’s victory represented a sharp turn, in both style and substance. “

Obama has neither “style” or “substance”.

He brings the phrase “empty suit” for s street thud to a new level. Obama disgusts and embarrasses me.

“end the wars he started.”

The author is a terrorist sympathizer. The war in Afganistan was started by al-Qaeda attacking America on 9-11, not to mention all of the other al-Qaeda attacks. The war in Iraq was started by Saddam’s refusal to comply with the cease fire conditions. I bet this author believes the war in Gaza was started by Israel.

He leaves office as "Bailout Bush" to me.

What he did in the last 4 months of his Presidency has set this nation up for tyranny and ruin.

His "Bailouts" do not erase all the good he did, but come pretty close.

I believe that President Bush worked with the liberals, just like he did as Governor in Texas. I do not think he ever lied which is far more than I could ever say about the Clintons. However, his ‘compassion’ was his downfall as liberals used it against him and it became his weakness.

I think he came to terms with the liberals, they could run the domestic front if they did not pull the funding on the military fighting these lunatic terrorists in their own sand pits or swamps around the globe.

Unfortunately, the flood of lies spewed out by the liberals, 24/7 saturated the products of public education. And as if in a hypnotic trance the majority voted for a promise of ‘hope’ and ‘change’.

Lord McCain campaigned as if he too was under that same hypnotic trance.... he after all apparently deceived himself into believing all that power to fund elections he gave his media lovers was his key to the ‘White House’.

establishing an enduring Republican majority,

His legacy in that regard will be how his pigheadedness and stubborn pursuit of policies that weakened the party, actually did more to establish an enduring Dem majority.

It will take years to undo the damage W's done to the party, unless Obama and the Dems so spook the voters that they prove as inept as Bush and Rove at solidifying the support enjoyed at their high point.

Without his name, this moron wouldn’t have risen to the level of city councilman. He’s been an utter disgrace to conservatism, and your head is completely embedded in sand.

I didn’t think anyone could equal Jimmy Carter in their total ignorance and stupidity in the Office of the Presidency, but Bush has given him a run for his money.

Dolt is not nearly strong enough to describe him.

“two wars and the war on terror,”

He did just that and did it well. The rest of his domestic policy was great considering his burdens.

As for the recount, he won fair and square and Obama is coming into a much more safe government. He won’t have to deal with terrorist attacks (like Bush did) or prosecute two wars. He can continue with the system Bush successfully set up and could round up more vermin. Gitmo is set up and running. I don’t think Obama sees this and I imagine we’re gonna get hit sooner or later after the inauguration.

The last time the terror scum hit it was just after Bush took office. Obama is going to be similarly tested. I don’t see him succeeding though.

Millions are counting on him to dismantle the legacy of cowboy diplomacy, to mop up after Bush's recession and end the wars he started.

Nope, no media bias here. No wonder the newspapers want a bailout.
