I'd go for one term only, of six years, or unlimited terms, but not consecutively.

Time has a way of bringing out the truth regarding the effectiveness (or lack there of) of a President. Reagan is one example on the positive side. Carter, an example on the negative side,

After the Civil War, there was talk of doing just that. The Confederacy has a single six-year term for its Presidents. President Harrison thought it was a good idea but unfortunately it went nowhere.

A single six-year term would put a stop to the endless campaigns too.
