I was born in Minnesota, went to Alaska in ‘79 and lived there till ‘99 and worked and lived 400 miles North of the Arctic Circle.

Now, I am back in Minnesota were it is comfortably warm in the winters. -30 is nothing. In fact, I have a hard time telling the difference between -10 and -60. Because the wind usually stops blowing when the air becomes that dense.

The body has a protective layer that helps protect the skin, provided there is no wind. (extremities excluded) I have seen 40 mile per hour winds with an ambient temp. of -40 which sends the chill factor to -125. This is rare and usually only happens above the Arctic Circle. Needless to say, that when it does, one had better find a nice warm place out of the wind, really fast.
