I think a number of posts here about the political consequences of 0bama releasing them as one of his first acts may have filtered up to W....

Amazing. Bush Derangement Syndrome in its terminal stages now credits OBAMA with the pardons!

Pitiful. Just pitiful.

In my opinion, a pardon would right a wrong. This is part way but doesn’t finish the job.

Exactly, it should have been a total pardon.

To those of you who are still whining, you make me sick.

Looking on the bright side, if you're sick, then you can call your boss and take the day off.

;-)

Honestly, if I were them, I would not want to work in law enforcement again. I, too, am happy they can be reunited with their families.

Thanks President Bush!

cold hearted SOB

GWB is anything but coldhearted!

In fact, his main malfunction is he tries TOO hard to appease and pander to the Democrat lib Bush-haters.... to no avail after eight long years.

Bush "feels" for border jumping illegals, and thus sides with Amnesty.

Bush "feels" for seniors who complain about high prescriptions, and thus spends his limited political capital on free elderly drugs (well, almost free)

Bush "feels" for African AIDS victims, and thus spent $15 billion to Africa.... not that it is a terrible thing to do.

If President Bush had been more hardened in his so-called conservative principals, his Presidency would have had much more succcess.

Thank You GOD! ... for getting through to G. W. Bush.

If Bush had left office with these two commutations not done, I was seriously going to have trouble EVER defending him on anything...

Sad that it took this long... but, what a fine day it is today.

Thankfully, they were freed. However, let’s not forget about the people who convicted him. They are still out there and they are actively working against those of us who work to protect the United States. Be vigilant, folks.

Whether exoneration through the courts is accomplished or not, that was not the goal of President Bush.

He even took a shot at them on his way out: His action “does not diminish the seriousness of their crime.”

Typical.

I thought it had been commuted already but not pardoned.

And the men will now appeal their convictions and hope to be exonerated. A pardon would not accomplish that.

Indeed. I also think that a pardon would have prevented them from appealing, as acceptance of a pardon is an admission that one was guilty in the first place.

Conservatives were deluded once again

Nope, Conservatives were not deluded. We were offered the one less evil than the other one (sound familliar?). Can you imagine Algore for POTUS?

Now imagine eight years of the absolutely worst-spun news imaginable. Stuff like: 'Comet strikes Jupiter: Bush's Fault' and wonder why he has had such a hard time with 'getting the word out'. Hard to be a great communicator if the mike is unplugged, and for all his failings, President Bush has not been as bad as the media have painted him, day in and day out.

While there was much I wish he would have pursued, and some things I wish he had not, history will likely be kinder to him if the books have not all been burned in 50-100 years.

Yes...donna is a disgusting , ungrateful whiny , Oh-So-Perfect conservative that will ruin what is left of conservatism!

These kind are NEVER happy.Period. they just complain from the sidelines and Monday AM quarterback. they are the same ‘conservatives’ that complained ad nauseum about Reagen until he died...then they compare everyone to a dead president. they are as immature as the Libs.

They are not bankrupt. KSEV in Houston held a drive to benefit their families a few months ago and both families have received, IIRC, 170,000. One of the national talk show hosts also picked up on it. The contributions overwhelmed the radio staion personnel and they had to bring on extra people to process the checks. Edd Hendee is the personality who ran the operation.

They will do OK.

Great news! Laura Ingraham will be all smiles. It was the right thing to do. I wish it had been done earlier. They have been locked up for 2 years. The legal expenses have been a major hardship for the families.
