Do You Want Obama to Succeed or Fail?

I originally took the mindset that I would wish Obama the best during his presidency for the good of the country, but I kept having nagging thoughts that were bothering me. Rush Limbaugh said something the other day that made me realize the problem I was having:

I Hope Obama Fails

RUSH: I got a request here from a major American print publication. "Dear Rush: For the Obama [Immaculate] Inauguration we are asking a handful of very prominent politicians, statesmen, scholars, businessmen, commentators, and economists to write 400 words on their hope for the Obama presidency. We would love to include you. If you could send us 400 words on your hope for the Obama presidency, we need it by Monday night, that would be ideal." Now, we're caught in this trap again. The premise is, what is your "hope." My hope, and please understand me when I say this. I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, "Well, I hope he succeeds. We've got to give him a chance." Why? They didn't give Bush a chance in 2000. Before he was inaugurated the search-and-destroy mission had begun. I'm not talking about search-and-destroy, but I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed...

Look, what he's talking about is the absorption of as much of the private sector by the US government as possible, from the banking business, to the mortgage industry, the automobile business, to health care... So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, "Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails...."

To anyone interested, take the opportunity tomorrow (or whenever you’re available) to stop at your bank. Take a look at their CD interest rates, and look for any specials (it’s not all that uncommon). Buy a short-term (3-9 months) CD, and smile in the knowledge that it’s now money that the Obama economy will never see.

He needs to fail hard. Socialism needs to fail hard.

Funny you should say "Figurehead." I published a novel entitled The Figurehead about a man named William Baldwin Montfort who was naturally lucky, and was manipulated into high office to be a puppet.

Someone today said that Obama is very lucky, and it made me think of the parallels to my protagonist.

As a Conservative, I want him to fail.
As an American, I want him to fail.
As a Christian, I want God’s will for this country.

It’s hard to believe that Obama is God’s will as our President. I’m reminded of OT scripture, where the Israelites rebelled against God. God would remove his hand from them and all sorts of calamity came upon them. Later on they would realize the error of their ways and repent. God would restore them and peace and order would follow... at least until they repeated this whole process all over again?!!

There are a lot of parallels between Israel and the US. Both nations are Judeo-Christian. Both have seen their share of favor and deliverance. There was a time not long ago that we in the US understood the importance of Israel... Not the case at the moment. Israel is unpopular as Christianity and Conservatism are also unpopular.

If we use the Bible as a template as to what will come during the Obama administration. Without God, he will fail. Like the unsinkable Titanic, Obama’s Nation will go down. He has no basis in truth. Obama, himself, stands for nothing. He will unfortunately take us down with him.

God willing, America will find her way through this dark night. SOOOO, we as believers in truth and God, must shine more brightly than ever... It is up to us to light the way for future generations.

Now they are asking us to get behind the President.....what a laugh. There was not a moment’s peace given to Bush for eight miserable years of listening to bullshit, innuendo and lies. This country is in the position it is right now because of this debacle and goes directly to the feet of the msm and democrats but mostly to the Republicans who had the voice and were too cowardly to use it. Some day very soon we are going to have to start speaking for ourselves.

He can’t turn towards the middle - the leftist media is holding his leash. All they have to do is threaten to peek into his Chicago past, and he’ll dance to their tune.

I vote thumbs down on the Obama. My hope is that he, his followers and his lapdogs in government fail miserably. Then us real Americans can pick up the pieces and fix things as usual. Socialism never works in real life. To bad they don’t teach that in the Ivy league halls of educational centers.

I don’t think you were understanding what I was saying. I don’t want him to implement a bunch of social programs, or to increase spending and raise taxes.

I do want our nation to stay safe, and I do want the economy to turn around. If we have another terrorist attack, or people continue to lose jobs and their retirement and their medical insurance that will cause extensive suffering. I could not in good conscience wish suffering on people, just to prove a political point.

nor do I, but the philosophy he has articulated prior to the present time, if implemented would cause far more damage than good and lead the nation into a path of degradation. Just because he and his advisors say something is good doesn't make it good. I don’t mean to sound political, but rather one who is an adherent of the country our ancestors have handed down to us. In short, I do not have a lot of trust in Obama. And that lack of trust stems from his past, his campaign, his associates, and some of his current advisors. I want success - for the nation, not a personality.

THE MORAL RIGHT TO SECEDE

The United States is a voluntary association created by the states and states have and had every right to secede. Lincoln was wrong. He did not have the authority, either Constitutional or moral, to make war on the South. The Declaration of Independence itself provides for secession - "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government..."

To determine the moral right in this matter, ask yourself this simple question: "Would any colony have agreed to join the Union if it had known it would have to fight to get out?" Not a single one would have.

"Opposing secession changes the nature of government from a voluntary one, in which the people are sovereigns, to a despotism where one part of the people are slaves." -- NY Journal of Commerce 1/12/1861

Jefferson Davis in his inaugural address stated that, "the American idea [is] that governments rest on the consent of the governed, and that it is the right of the people to alter or abolish them at will whenever they become destructive of the ends for which they were established." Similarly President James Buchanan in his annual message to Congress in 1860 said, "The fact is that our Union rests upon public opinion and can never be cemented by the blood of its citizens...If it can not live in the affections of its people, it must die."

Horace Greeley wrote "We hope never to live in a republic whereof one section is pinned to the residue by bayonets" (11/9/1860).

George Mason University Professor Walter Williams argues that Lincoln's defeat of the South meant the abrogation of the Tenth Amendment - that the concentration of imperial power in Washington was an inevitable result of the war. His analogy is that if you tell a wife she cannot divorce under any circumstances, then her husband can treat her any way he wants. The federal government can treat states any way they want and they want to reduce them to subjugated vassal extensions. As we shall see below, the war was death to the Constitution of the United States in many ways.

Founding Father Alexander Hamilton argued at the Constitutional Convention, "To coerce the states is one of the maddest projects that was ever devised...What picture does this idea present to our view? A complying state at war with a non-complying state: Congress marching the troops of one state into the bosom of another? Here is a nation at war with itself. Can a reasonable man be well disposed toward a government which makes war and carnage the only means of supporting itself - a government that can only exist by the sword?"

A few weeks ago, our minister's sermon was on wishing him (O'Bama) success.

I told him (my minister) that since his agenda was evil, I hope he will fail.

Last Sunday's sermon was on racism.

We definitely have much work to do.
