Murderers stick to knives...(UK shows where we are headed)
UK Times online ^ | January 23, 2009 | Richard Ford

Knives or other sharp objects are the enduring weapon of choice for murderers and robbers, according to yesterday’s crime figures.

Fatal stabbings reached a record high in England and Wales last year, despite a government drive to tackle knife-crime in ten “hotspot” areas of the country. More worryingly for the Government, robberies at knifepoint on the street jumped by almost a fifth in the year to the end of September. However, they make up less than one quarter of all robberies.

Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, said: “We remain concerned about serious violence, and in particular knife crime. That is why we are taking targeted action in ten areas.” She said that 700 mobile airport-style security “arches and wands” had been provided to police in the ten areas to reassure the public and get knives off the streets.

Chris Grayling, the Shadow Home Secretary, said: “It is particularly alarming that robberies involving knives have soared and that fatal stabbings are at an all-time high. The Government’s complacency is proving fatal.”

While fatal stabbings increased last year, gun-crime deaths fell from 59 to 52. Gun crime overall remains rare in England and Wales, and more than half of all recorded offences are concentrated in London, the West Midlands and Greater Manchester.

....(snip).....

The second-most common method of homicide involving males was for the victim to be hit or kicked; for women it was being strangled.....

OK, so in the US after the liberals ban our firearms, they will set up metal detectors and take our knives. Then since "the second most common method of homicide involving males is for the victim to be hit or kicked"....do they ban boots? I can just see the politician's in WA DC flying to the UK on taxpayer sponsored junkets to study this!

Hey, inquiring minds want to know!

Who knew? /s The next British slogan: Knives kill people! Eventually they’ll work their way down to the real problem: People kill people. Weapons are inanimate, the human heart is not.

Get ready to do all your cooking and cutting with these: Now when hammers become #1, I don't what the Nanny State our British cousins have built will do.

Perhaps guns will get liberals before liberals get guns.

When knives are outlawed, only outlaws will have knives.

Now, don't be such an extremist. No one wants to take away your Constitutional right to have a knife to peel carrots and such, as long as it is properly registered with the authorities. All they want is to ban certain dangerous assault knives.

Do you want your children to live in a world where dangerous knives are allowed to walk around, stabbing people at random?

So let’s get this straight.

UK bans guns to prevent the rare firearm murder in exchange for every increasing knife crime?

Next time you visit the UK, be prepared to eat your steak with a *spoon*.

Of course, these problems have nothing at all to do with an ever increasing fraction of UK youths (look mom, no apostrophy needed to form a plural! - Freepers, take note!) turning feral....and using whatever means at hand to inflict injury and death.

How many countries are there where “glassing” has actually become a verb in the local language?

One of my Pacific Telephone co-workers failed to show up for work one day. Her office friends went to her security apartment to discover she had been murdered. A man and woman managed to "tailgate" through the security and knocked at her door. The woman asked to use the phone. That was an excuse to get through the door. The man followed. They cut her throat with a pair of scissors. Her name was Olivia Rel. Her father is probably still walking the streets of San Diego as a homeless man. He was totally devastated by her murder.

I've taken my wife to Wales on 3 vacations. We did some family history research along the way. Recently, she has been working away and wants to make a return visit. I'm not too keen on the idea. We've always avoided the cities in England. In general, we make a beeline from Heathrow to Cardiff before stepping out of the car. We spend a fair bit of time in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth. We also avoid the pubs. Alcohol and good behavior don't tend to be found in the same location.

What distresses me most about this is that while I can handle firearms safely and effectively, I’m notoriously inept and downright dangerous with sharp objects (I’m embarrassed to admit this but...). If one wanted to kill me with a knife, all he would need to do is hand it to me.

Yes. Banning guns was supposed to stop murder entirely, I guess. Silly liberals never will acknowledge reality.
