Food Stamps Will Stimulate the Economy More than Tax Cuts, Pelosi Says Wednesday, January 28, 2009 By Ryan Byrnes

(CNSNews.com) – Food stamps and unemployment insurance will provide more economic stimulus than tax cuts, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday during a telephone press conference.

“(F)ood stamps and unemployment insurance, which affect the people in the states, are necessary at this time when funds are short and the economy is down, (and) actually have the most stimulative effect on the economy,” Pelosi said. “Food stamps first, unemployment insurance next, infrastructure after that, and it goes on from there.”

During the press conference, Pelosi laid out the contents of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which is expected to be passed in the House Wednesday. employment insurance “have the most stimulative effect on the economy,” and as a result are given the greatest priority in the stimulus package.

“Actually, those investments bring a bigger return than the tax cuts,” she said, adding: “but tax cuts where we have them – to the middle class – we think will give us our biggest return.”

The 20-minute news conference also included Govs. Edward Rendell (D-Pa.) and Jim Douglas (R-Vt.).

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will devote $20 billion to “provide nutrition assistance to modest-income families and to lift restrictions that limit the amount of time individuals can receive food stamps,” according to a summary of the plan released last week by the House Appropriations Committee.

A true liberal never misses an opportunity to expand the grip of government and reduce the scope of private enterprise.

This woman just needs to come out everyday and pontificate. She is proving our point that democrats are morons!!

The problem with that is, she and many others (think Harry Reid) have been "proving" that over and over for the last 8 years. The more they "prove" how idiotic they are, the more power they're amassing.

After the welfare bums have filled all the condoms, drunk all the beer, and smoked all the cigarettes you bought for them, they will be broke again and the artificially increased demand for condoms, beer and cigarettes will be gone. All the new condom, beer and cigarettes factories will have nothing to do, and neither will those who produced the parts for those factories.

First the government mismanagement creates an equities bubble, then a housing bubble, and now a condom bubble! The fallout from that could be ugly.

“Dumber than a box of hair.”

Folks, we have to stop kidding ourselves and making the excuse that these people are doing what they are doing because they are stupid.

They are not stupid. What they are doing is an intentional, well-considered agenda to cement their power for the foreseeable future.

And it's working magnificently.

The peasants who vote for these charlatans are dumber than a box of hair, but the politicians most certainly are not.

Every day, more nuggets of “wisdom” from the Left. Isolate and narrow the number of actual taxpayers into an small and insignificant part of the electorate and pander to the rest. A socialist’s dream. William Z. Foster and Gus Hall must be smiling now.

I am shocked every time by the fact that families living off welfare have much more than the working families in the same area. Better clothing, more food in their cabinets and all the toys any child could dream of.

Is it any wonder people are asking for big daddy government to save them?

Commies have destroyed our self reliance and our work ethic.

Every time I think Nancy has said about the dumbest thing there is to say, she goes and outdoes herself.

Again.

I think she's ready for a strait jacket and a padded cell.

I think it is time that the real people of America, you know the ones who FUND this crap, and keep this nation rolling, considers a “tax cut” for Washington. If she didn’t have so much of our money, she wouldn’t have to worry how she is going to spend it.
