Polish minister of Foreign Affairs attacks American newspaper
President of Poland was attacked by postcommunist daily newspaper “Gazeta Wyborcza” for publishing his op-ed in “Washington Times”. “Wyborcza” argued that because controversial Korean leader of church owns “Times” makes it inappropriate to president of Poland to publish its article.
Today Minister of Foreign Affairs Radek Sikorski (who once was an employee of American Enterprise Institute and was a rove correspondent of National Review) threatened diplomats, who advised president, with consequences. Sikorski hit a competitive newspaper to “Washington Post” where his wife writes regularly her column. Sikorski, as a member of Polish senate, published his article criticizing President George W Bush in “Washington Post”. It happens that both Sikorski and her wife appears in the same issue of “Wyborcza”.
It is not a mystery that “Wyborcza” maintains links to “New York Times” through leftist circles. Editor in Chief Adam Michnik is a friend of Janina Gross who is featured often in newspaper. Michnik published his important articles in “New York Times”.
Sikorski built his political self-esteem as an employee of AEI. There he was supposed to built a project which could be base for transatlantic cooperation. He was a director of New Atlantic Initiative. Unfortunately his activity in that area was non-existent. . His achievements were recognized by liquidation of project after he left AEI.
“Gazeta Wyborcza” was established as a Solidarity newspaper as one of effects of Round Table Talks in 1989. Wyborcza soon started its editorial line, which tried to manipulate some leaders of popular movement. As a consequence of its disloyalty towards Solidarity people Lech Walesa on behalf of movement demanded that it would take a logo of Solidarity. Wyborcza between 1989 and today repeatedly attacked lied on Polish history and defended the worst of communists. At some point “Wyborcza” accused Home Army soldiers about committing murders on Jews. But its editorial line was revealed perhaps most visibly in February of 2001. Then its editor in chief Adam Michnik in special interview called chief of communist secret police in People’s Republic of Poland Czeslaw Kiszczak a man of honor (who is responsible for creating of terror state in 80s; together with Jaruzelski he was an author of Martial Law in 1981

The Movement for Poland's Reconstruction (ROP), led by former Prime Minister Jan Olszewski, accused former Internal Affairs Minister Gen. Czeslaw Kiszczak of committing a crime against the interests of the Polish nation, Rzeczpospolita reported on 5 August. In the 1980s Kiszczak -- one of the architects of martial law initiated in 1981 -- concluded agreements with the East German secret police (Stasi), allowing it to conduct intelligence against Polish citizens and institutions, Olszewski said. Olszewski said former Solidarity leaders, including former President Lech Walesa, needed to answer whether they concluded a secret agreement granting immunity to Kiszczak and former Polish President Gen. It’s tough to understand just exactly what this article is trying to say, so, as a default position, we complain about the President of the USA.
