SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Saturday that the Republicans only had themselves to blame for losing control of Congress and the White House.
"The country fired us from our congressional majority in 2006. Why? The country didn't stop being conservative. The Republican Party did," Jindal told a gathering of Arkansas Republicans. "We became what we came to Washington to change -- the party of earmarks and government spending. The party needs to stop worrying about what to do to fix itself. Let's worry more about fixing our country. Then the party will fix itself."

Yes he is a native born citizen but he is not a Natural born citizen -both parents need to be citizens at the time of his birth & they were here on Student visas. We can debate w/out name calling.
I am not “spouting ignorance”. I have been watching Jindal for a while & I think he would be great as our President but there is the problem of Natural born citizenship (requirement to be POTUS) It is in the Constitution.
Come on, guys. I am as Conservative as they come (really), but sadly, I have to conclude that we screwed up. The reasons are many and its hard to point at any one thing. But, if forced to, I would say we erred by ceding areas like Education & culture to the Libs, buying into “non-judgementalism” and letting things like the Motor-Voter bill slip thru.
Are there still a lot of conservatives? Sure. However, we’ve had a massive influx of illegals, voter fraud, and a winking at the rule of law (to facilitate the first two). I hate to break it down along racial lines, but the fact is that most conservatives are White & Asian. The number of Whites is declining (our own fault) and the percentage of liberals have gone way up—in part because of the body blows of Iraq and Katrina. As a result, the Conservative center no longer holds. The fact is no matter what the Republicans do (stand fast or get along), the deck is now stacked against them.
My opinion is that the best strategy is to stand fast on Conservative principles and hope for Jimmy Carter II. That is, that Obama screws to pooch so badly, that even the white liberals start to defect. Not a perfect option, but probably the best shot we have. IMHO, the Jimmy Carter II scenario is likely because I can’t see how this country can sustain this insane level of spending. Some kind of massive collapse is inevitable.
Thank you Bobby. That’s exactly what I kept firing at the GOP fundraising callers. They left us, we didn’t leave them and I’ve had the opportunity to reiterate that complaint a couple of weeks ago when I asked one how they had the nerve to call folks on the GOP’s behalf since they lost all that we handed them during the election cycle of ‘06.
One young man was very courteous and we agreed on many points (all major points), turns out he was just as frustrated as I am! We have folks of like mind making those calls, make a strong point but be courteous.
I’m a conservative, not a Republican. Monetarily I only support individual candidates that have a PROVEN track record. I tell them I’m not listening to what they SAY they’re going to do, I’m WATCHING what they do.
Some Republican voters in the Northeast and FL did their part. The "Republican Party" can't "hoist"---voters elected McCain...and it was done before most of us got to vote. People in NH had more say than we had in Texas! Where is the logic in that?
The red state primaries should vote before the blue states or it could happen again.
The GOP presidential candidate was chosen primarily by states that went Democrat in the general election....makes zero sense and we got a zero POTUS!
Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be), from 1790 forward, you won't find a single legislative act or court decision that agrees with your interpretation that "native-born" is distinct from "natural-born".
We've no accounting for how much of Obama's money came from overseas. There is every reason to believe that much of his money came from non-constituents.
McCain, on the other hand, limited himself by accepting public financing -- as his contribution to the hare-brained scheme of "reducing the influence of money in politics".
Accordingly, while a 4:1 ratio in spending prevailed, we just don't know whether contributions would have been in the same ratio -- if McCain had been able to accept unlimited dollars and Obama had been restricted to American sources only.

I agree, he’s right. The same thing happened in Colorado as Republicans acted like Democrats in spending too much and failing to keep taxes low.

Millions of dollars from outside the US flooded into Bambi’s campaign. Its one of the “lost” unwritten stories about the election.
They couldn’t raise that kind of money because they played it straight. They had no clue how to circumvent the rules, ie: debit cards with unidentified donors, unidentified money from foreign countries etc etc.The Dims dared anyone to try expose what they did and they got away with it.

I agree Jindal can think on his feet.
A lot of that could have have been overcome if the Party had practiced conservative principles when it was in charge, and if it and its candidate had hit hard on stopping the march to socialism. Sadly, the Party had no credibility when it came to preaching conservative principles. And there couldn’t have been a much worse candidate than McCain. It was 1996 and Bob Dole all over again.
The electorate wasn’t given a choice between liberal and conservative in the last election. The choice was between very liberal and not quite so liberal.
I wonder if Jindal would have been thrown under the bus by McCain's handlers like Palin was, and if he would have just kept quiet about it and take it?
So where is the MSM's investigative reporting on this one?

There are those on this very forum that would disagree with him. Not me of course, I’ve been trumpeting that news for years now.
