What Is Science?

What Is Science?

"Even if all the data point to an intelligent designer, such an hypothesis is excluded from science because it is not naturalistic."

—Dr. Scott Todd, Kansas State University, Nature 401(6752):423, Sept. 30, 1999

What You Will Learn

Many people do not realize that science was actually developed in Christian Europe by men who assumed that God created an orderly universe. If the universe is a product of random chance or a group of gods that interfere in the universe, there is really no reason to expect order in nature. Many of the founders of the principle scientific fields, such as Bacon, Galileo, Kepler, and Newton, were believers in a recently created earth. The idea that science cannot accept a creationist perspective is a denial of scientific history...

You can’t get to heaven except through Jesus Christ. Sorry, I didn’t make the rules.

I’m a devout Christian, as I posted earlier. Yes, your perspective on literal truth is a minority, unless you don’t consider Catholics, Episcopals, and other large denominations to be Christians.

Furthermore, most Jews consider the Old Testament allegorical as well. However, there appears to be considerably more tolerance in Judaism than in your brand of Christianity for divergent views.

“...I didn’t make the rules.”

You seem to have no problem applying the rules with your own self-serving interpretation, though.

“He is even more grieved when we fail to accept what He reveals to us in public revelation also known as His Word.”

Don’t confuse your interpretation with public revelation.

You seem to have no problem applying the rules (ignoring them in this case) with YOUR own self-serving interpretations.

Not exactly—My interpretation is backed up with scienctific observation that God gave us the capacity to perform.

Still no answer. So I take it that you don't believe that John 3:16 or Matthew 28:5 ever happened.

#317. Your interim conclusions are being drawn with the same degree of baseless certainty as the major published works of creation science!

You’re obsessed with what I believe! I’ve told you that I’m a Christian. Are you a stalker?

You have made some bold claims as a christian. I am just trying to understand on what basis that comes from. If the Bible is not true as you say, where do you get your truth from? Are you ashamed in what you believe?

I think the real issue is that you cannot distinguish between an allegory and a lie. Being allegorical does not make the bible a lie. It seems that you would consider Jesus a liar simply because he used parables (i.e., lies).

I never said that the bible was a lie or allegorical. I’m saying that the bible is the word of God. You seem to be denying the truth about who Jesus is. (i.e. John 3:16 and Matthew 28:5)

Keep the YEC logic coming. I hope the that existence of this thread and the arguments made by YEC proponents on it will swing a few people away from YEC and back to a more rational Christian belief.

And what would that rational Christian belief consist of when it comes to Jesus? Just asking.

Your refusal to answer is very telling. I'm not playing gotcha, I am really curious in your definition of a Christian. It appears that we differ greatly in what we believe.
