Obama and Hillary have signalled that we are not to be taken seriously, and that has potentially catastrophic implications for our national interests, and our very securityFor sure

Forget the mistranslation. The United States Secretary of State giving a plastic red button to the foreign minister of any country, let alone to our greatest adversary of the past 60 years, is an utter and profound embarrassment.Seriously! Did no one realize that the Russians would tie this gift to the whole concept of a "nuclear button?"
Whoever came up with this idiotic idea should be canned. If it was Hillary, then God help us.

Thank God she forgot the whoopie cushion on the plane.

If in fact, the translation was correct and it was intended to mean “overload”, was it a joke between friends to describe the economic situation that we find ourselves in? Or the Democratic agenda to “overload” our political process in the last fifty days? If in fact it was deliberate, as you suggest, particularly since as you pointed out, she called attention to the translation, then it was a gesture of solidarity with Russia that has pretty dire implications for us.
Even the term “reset” would be perplexing given the invasion of the Republic of Georgia this summer.
Nothing about this “gift” makes any sense. Nothing.
Russians make a very big deal about gift giving. It is something that they pride themselves on with good reason.
