Just got back from a great-and warm-weekend in Palm Beach, Florida, where the Club for Growth held its annual winter conference. We had a slew of great speakers, including three outstanding keynote dinner talks.
Thursday night, we were privileged to hear South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, a leading opponent of President Obama's big-spending frenzy. He spoke about the need for the GOP to return to principles, to remember its core mission. He compared the Republican Party to any other brand name in business-John Deere or Caterpillar. What makes these companies great is that they "stick to their knitting"-they remember what they're all about. That is what the Republican Party needs to do today. Finally, he encouraged conservatives to keep up the good fight, to never give up, and to be "happy warriors."
Friday night, another conservative hero, South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint spoke about the fight for freedom in the U.S. Senate. He also talked about his forthcoming book, "Saving Freedom," set to come out-appropriately-on July 4, 2009. The book will lay out an action plan for reclaiming our hold on liberty in this country against the encroaching arms of big-government.
Last, but certainly not least, we closed out our conference with a rousing speech by Governor Mitt Romney. Ever the problem-solver, the Massachusetts Governor offered specific solutions to the problems we face under an Obama administration. Instead of reckless spending, he called for pro-growth tax cuts; instead of bailing out the auto companies, he called for serious restructuring; instead of exploding the federal deficit, he called for government to live within its means.
Our members enjoyed the entire conference, and we appreciate that all of our speakers-who are no doubt very busy-took the time to come speak to us.

Does this post have anything to do with hair?
I can't believe I was listening to a RINO (based on what the poster above mine said).
See my tagline!
Sanford is a RINO for telling the truth? W was a disaster. If anything, Sanford was too kind.
Blah. Heard all this sales pitch for the last twenty years. Boob Bait for Republican Bubbas that have no memory.
No one trusts the GOP to act. Bark, squeak, posture like roosters, yes. Act? No.
We are a heavily socialized people, us Americans. We love, just love getting someone else to pay for our stuff, especially if it is stolen by a stroke of a pen with a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo. Mitt’s singular ‘accomplishment’ was delivering citizens bodies, like some sort of plantation serfs, to socialist schemers, hacks, and business rent seekers. What could be more personal, more anti-capitalist than that?
I don’t see that changing.
The GOP is elderly and afraid of it’s own base. In a word, losers.
“DeMint is great. Romney is ok. Mark Sanford is a RINO. “
From the link:
“Watch Michigan Governor Jennifer Hussein Granholm yell at Republican Governors Tim Pawlenty and Mark Sanford, who, in response, cower like frightened women.”
LOL
That reads like an ill-disguised hit piece.
Ping!
Dude WTH? Are you a Bushbot or something? Sanford stands foursquare against Obama’s polices. Bush got the ball rolling. Bush is the RINO (and Mitt) not Sanford.
I agree 100% anybody who thinks Bush is NOT responsible for Obama's socialist policies is a Bushbot. Good point!
Gov. Mark Sanford Ping! |
Jim DeMint Ping!
Want on or off this ping list? Just FReepmail me.
Calling Sanford a RINO for calling out RINO Bush is retarded.
I agree 100% calling Bush a RINO and blaming Bush for Obama's socialist policies are the exact same thing. Good point!
“The march in that direction began a year ago” is what he said. Which is true. He did not “blame Bush for Obama’s polices” listen to the video (it’s at the beginning) and forget the inaccurate headline.
Really? By that logic, what George W. Bush did began a year before he took office, when Bill Clinton was still in office, which began a year before he took office when George H.W. Bush was still in office, which began a year before he took office when Ronald Reagan was still President...and on and on until George Washington...and we can go as far back as you like. Maybe to when God created the Earth. So actually, Obama's socialist policies are God's fault by Mark Sanford's totally not retarded logic.
You’re not making any sense. Sanford did not blame anybody for Obama’s polices forget the stupid erroneous headline that was obviously written by some moron with an axe to grind against Sanford and listen to the video.
