The weekend did nothing to quell the ongoing war between Meghan McCain and Laura Ingraham.
McCain, daughter of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, came out last week and responded to Ingraham’s remarks that she was "plus-sized," remarks that were a direct result of McCain’s public criticism of the Republican Party.
Ingraham’s comments also included some disrespectful dismissal: "Do you think that anyone would be talking to you if you weren’t kind of cute and you weren’t the daughter of John McCain?" She went on to mock McCain as a heavyset Valley girl.
McCain wasted no time biting back, and took more shots at Ingraham on today’s episode of "The View," telling the girls, "When Tyra Banks went on her show in her bathing suit and said, ‘Kiss my fat ass,’ that’s what I feel right now. I’m like, ‘Kiss my fat ass!’" Ms. McCain, who writes for The Daily Beast, also said that Ingraham’s remarks hurt more than just her. Via Think Progress:
What do young women think when I speak my mind about politics and I want to have a political discussion about the ideological future of the Republican Party, and the answer is, ‘She’s fat, she shouldn’t have an opinion.’ What kind of message are we sending young women? … It infuriates me. I’m a political writer on a blog, and all of a sudden I’m too fat to write?
Ingraham responded immediately, and said on her radio show:
The bottom line is it’s rough and tumble out there. You wanna put yourself out there as someone who’s going to redirect the future of the Republican Party, and you’re going to have to deal with satire. You’re gonna have to deal with people teasing … You gotta just take a chill pill … Can I say lighten up or is that offensive too?
No, it’s not offensive, but remarks on McCain’s weight certainly are.

Sort of a female Scott McClellan....sucking up to the enemy to be famous for a couple of weeks. She’s almost as offensive as her father, but a lot less dangerous.

The same women on the View (you know, the liberal fat ones) who cluck about those unfortunate weight remarks, are the first to comment on Rush Limbaugh’s weight.
She's still young yet. That ass has some growing to do. I wonder how old she will be when she's first seen riding on one of those 'golf carts' in Wal-Mart.

The 14 year old kid at CPAC has more credibility, intelligence...and maturity.
It's not that she's physically such a heavyweight but the fact that she's intellectually such a lightweight, AND going after conservatives with experience and intellect far superior, that makes Meghan McCain such an embarrassment.
However, thin-skinned Laura should take some of her own advice.
I may not agree with Meghan McCain on politics, but I agree with her that personal attacks do not win anyone over.
I am with Laura too, but she really came off as catty and petty and should have just nailed Lil’ Miss Maverick on the issues.
All she did was draw empathy for Daughter of McQueeg and gave the Obamedia a source for distraction while he deliberately and effectively destroys the country.
When Missy McCain writes this RINO garbage, paste her on the issues and paste her good. Megsy has youth and inexperience as an excuse but Michael Steele has none. I am far more concerned with his being assigned to this sidelines than this little brat.
Laura Ingraham should have given her a one sentance rebuttal... If you can’t stand the heat, keep out of the kitchen. LOLZ
