Concern is mounting at the presidents tactics
The AIG saga has prompted some senior Democrats to distance themselves from Obama
WHEN the White House announced last week that President Barack Obama will be returning to the nations television screens on Tuesday for a prime-time press conference that will postpone the latest episode of American Idol - the talent show watched by 25m viewers - fans of the programme were quick to respond.
Stop, please stop, Mr O, we cant take much more, one angry viewer wrote on an Idol-related website. Not again! complained another. Its the same speech hes been giving for the past year.
There were dark mutterings that by commandeering evening programming only a few days after he appeared on Jay Lenos popular late-night chat show, Obama was just like Fidel Castro [of Cuba] and Hugo Chavez [of Venezuela] - always on camera, always giving speeches and lecturing.
The barbed response to the prospect of yet another mass-media dose of Obamas economic prescriptions underlined the dangers the president is facing as he struggles to sell his recovery efforts to a country seething with anger and anxiety over the costs, effectiveness and potential abuse of the governments trillion-dollar bailout programme.
White House aides remain outwardly confident that Obamas telegenic appeal will reassure Americans who were appalled by last weeks Wall Street bonus fiasco and who are becoming increasingly sceptical about the presidents so-called Big Bang approach to reviving a shattered economy.
Sceptics were scarcely encouraged on Friday when the main US budgetary watchdog reported that Obamas proposals would generate far greater budget deficits than the administration had predicted. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) prompted consternation with an estimate that deficits over the next decade would total $9.3 trillion (£6.4 trillion).
The deficit revelations followed the administrations much-criticised handling of

Awesome! I love the English media.
Fox should rig it up so, unbeknownst to POTUS and his TOTUS, instructions on how to vote “Idol-style” will be displayed on the screen during his speech.
Think we’d see a “mandate” then?
American Idol is rigged, but not as bad as the TOTUS press conferences.
Report from the Times (UK). Interesting state of affairs that we have to go to the foreign press to find out what’s going on with our own President. The cult followers are still printing all praise and adulation.
More hopey-changey speeches with a telepromter. Fooled America before.
Since I’m in the “I hope he fails” camp, I just pray that it’s like this every day for the next 4 years. I’m dying to see the “Office of the Outgoing President” seal on his podium on Nov. 5, 2012.
Get used to it.
Obama is already campaigning for the 2012 election. Isn't there supposed to be limits governing the start and length of the campaign season?
Taxpayers shouldn't be footing the bill for Obama's 4 year long election campaign expenses.
Obama has been getting torched by some of the British media outlets.
I do find it interesting that there are many Democrats that despise Conservatives, Capitalists, and Christians, but ultimately understand that the value of money comes from a capitalist system and ultimately understand that socialism would destroy that value, thus limiting the use of the money in their pockets.

Exactly. In the old days, the media just told Reagan and Bush it was a political speech and they weren’t airing it. The media can swim in their feces for all I care.
It didn’t take long, did it?
......Not again! complained another. Its the same speech hes been giving for the past year.
Yeah.
And it'll be the same speech for four more years.
Obama is going to be facing a major rebellion soon. He is making some of the same kind of mistakes Bill Clinton did but he is a liberal and Bill was an opportunist. Obama is going to end up a lower status than Carter going at this rate. However he should not lose hope Captain Republican might rescue him. I never underestimate the power of the GOP to fail. lol
Telegenic, eh? Mr. "All style, no content" will remain telegenic for just so long with an adult audience whose incomes are decreasing, mortgage payments in doubt, 401Ks declining while BoyBarak ambles around on tv sets, portable teleprompter in hand.
White House aides are already drowning in Kool-Aid.

Not true. There’s a post from newsweek here and Eleanor Clift fired a warning shot across the Prez’s bow. Straighten up and fly right!
...and the whole of Europe reads those papers. This is gettin’ goooooood.
