Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!
This woman is frightening. She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' (I am not rich, are you?)
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied: 'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.'
(Read that quote again and again and let it sink in.) 'Lower your retirement, give�it to others who have not worked as you have for it'...

I'm not too worried about it. If the pols go after 401k's directly, DC won't have enough rope, torches, or pitchforks to go around.
Now - what I really see happening....eventually....is DC doing away with 401k's. Or doing away with the tax breaks associated with them (virtually the same thing). Particularly if its done on a "voluntary" basis...I could see it happening, sooner or later.
DONT WASTE OUR TIME WITH THIS CRAP...

An important aside: Because of the depression, government tax revenues which in 2008 were about $3T may be as little as $2T in 2009, and less after that.
The “+$250k wealthy” that the Democrats so abhor, are already making every effort to protect what is left of their wealth from the Democrats.
They will be making any number of adjustments to limit their tax exposure. Obama’s recent effort to attack the salaries and bonuses of high end businesses, have put these efforts into overdrive.
So if they cannot raise taxes on income, and get more money, or raise taxes on capital gains, and get more money, or any of the other usual tax suspects, what is left for them to do?
Simple. “WEALTH TAXES.”
That is not taxing new money, but money you already have.
If you have $10,000 in the bank, they will demand $2,000 of it. The same applies to other monies that you have already paid tax on once.
Think of it as a “windfall wealth tax.” Or “You have money and we want it, so we are going to take it.”
Does anyone seriously think they wouldn’t do this?
