Another Day, Another Diplomatic Incident Another day, another diplomatic incident caused by the Obama administration. France is the latest ally to be insulted by President Obama. It seems that President Obama, according to the French newspaper Le Figaro, sent a letter to the President of France.
The problem is that the letter was addressed to the former President of France, Jacques Chirac, and not to the actual President of France, Nicholas Sarkozy. The story is translated from French, Barack Obama Insults the Frenchcourtesy of Monsters and Critics:

A Head of State does not formally offer an alliance to a foreign non-government group
Where you see the offering of an alliance, I see a cordial, and perfunctory, reply and acknowledgment to a letter written by the former president of France to the current president of the US. Since we are not privy to the all of the day to day correspondence from any sitting president, we can't know how common or uncommon this type of communication is. I'm guessing, more common than we think. As it pertains to this matter in particular however, it's hard for me to believe that any type of hard-and-fast coalition has been made.
There are some really great people in France, who admire America and Americans.

No insult here. Obama wrote to Chirac being well aware he is not the President anymore..he is just paying tribute to Chirac for his actions for peace while he was in charge...
