This is timely. My 18 year old son is graduating at the MCRDSD on 3 April 2009. He joined for the infantry and aspires to get into Recon.

These guys are great. My only question is, I have a son who's been Recon, Force Recon and Marsoc, in all his 8 years he's never put that many words to paper.

My son graduated from MCRDSD in Oct 2001. On 20th birthday, April 18, 2003, he was landing in Kuwait City. Sun, sand, a government provided dune buggy (Hummer) with a belt fed weapon and free food. What more could you ask for your birthday?

Might be an oldy, but still a goodie. (And still relevant.)

God bless Marines! My dad was a combat Marine in Korea, and I’m sure the attitudes haven’t changed much, thank God.

Good luck to your son, it's a very elite group. My son has been 0321 for about 6 years now.
