There are other conservatives who are expressing skepticism with the War on Drugs.
Whooda thunk? I knew Mr. Tancredo was a member of the Republican Liberty Caucus when he was in Congress, but I thought he was a staunch Drug Warrior in the likes of Biden, Bush I, Bennett, etc. etc. etc. Now I have just ANOTHER reason to proclaim him as a hero of mine!
All that will happen will be many more people smoking damaging stuff that encourages nothing but sitting around and eating while off in another world.
And the Mexican drug lords will pump even more of the harder stuff here, because that will still be desired and still won't be taxed.
Decriminalize marijuana and let people grow a limit of plants, that’s it. No taxes, no regulation and keep it illegal to sell, transport or distribute it or drive under the influence. Problem solved...
tancredo 2012
I’m ambivalent about dsstigmatizing drugs. I’m also ambivalent or worse about the “war on drugs”. Neither has a good side.
What does worry me greatly about this is the selling point. Legalize pot and all the criminality associated with pot will disappear. I’m sure it will in the short run.
What I see happening in short order, if marijuana is legalized, is that all the land in Mexico and further south used to grow pot, will become worthless to the narcos. In no time this crop will be scrapped in favor of cocaine and heroine.
Then, we’ll have a great chance to see how much law and order is restored.
Tom Tancredo is right.
While I don’t want people to abuse drugs, it is obvious that what we’ve been doing hasn’t been working, and the collateral damage has been enormous.
Tom threw me when he voted in favor of the big bank bailout.
Freedom, deal with it.

Tancredo must have been hanging around with Ron Paul too much.
Sold his soul to Slick Willard. He needs to go away.
