Pakistan Says “NO” to Obama and Demands Predator Drones

So much for Obama’s promise to repair our alliances!

Report: Pakistan rejects U.S. plan, wants drones
By Bridget Johnson
The Hill
April 8, 2009

U.S. envoys met with Pakistani leaders on Tuesday to ensure that the $7.5 billion that President Obama plans to send their way over the next five years will be used to achieve common goals in the fight against extremism.

But according to a Pakistani newspaper, regional envoy Richard Holbrooke and Joint Chiefs Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen came up empty-handed and received a “rude shock” when a proposal for joint operations against al Qaeda and Taliban forces in the volatile tribal regions was rejected.

Dawn newspaper reported that Pakistan also asked the U.S. to turn over the unmanned drone missions over the territory to them, saying that the drone strikes were fueling extremism.

And The Independent published an interview with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday in which he said Pakistan would go after high-value targets on their own if the U.S. would hand over its drone technology and intelligence.

Yeah, that’s right. Hand over the drones and intelligence. We can count on the Pakistanis to do the job?

Obama went to Europe to ask for more help in Afghanistan. He got nothing. Now he sends our top brass to Pakistan and is basically told to drop the money and leave.

By comparison, President Bush’s efforts to win alliance help is looking better and better every single day!

Pakistan also asked the U.S. to turn over the unmanned drone missions over the territory to them...

Probably so they can give warnings to the inended targets.

Worse.
They’ll hand ‘em over to the Chinese to study and reverse engineer.
Exactly what they did with Clintoon’s doomed Tomahawk launches against Bin Laden in ‘98.

From the last days of the Bush Administration:

Pakistan Rejects US Plans to Strike Terrorists on its Soil

************************EXCERPT****************************

By Michael Bowman
Washington
06 January 2008

Pakistan says it will not permit the United States to unilaterally hunt terrorists on its soil, despite a common desire to defeat radical Islamist militants. VOA's Michael Bowman reports, the statements from Pakistani officials follow a U.S. media report that the Bush administration has considered expanding U.S. military and intelligence operations in Pakistan's tribal regions, thought to be a possible hiding place for Osama bin Laden.

Pakistan's foreign ministry is downplaying the New York Times story as speculative, but military officials in Islamabad are far more blunt in rejecting possible U.S. activities within their country's borders.

A Pakistani army spokesman, Major General Waheed Arshad, says Pakistan has been clear on the issue, and no foreign forces will be allowed to operate inside Pakistan.

The New York Times is reporting that President Bush's top advisors have debated stepping up covert operations in Pakistan's northern tribal regions, where the country's central government exercises little control. The Times says the move was considered amid concerns that terrorist forces are intensifying efforts to destabilize Pakistan, a critical U.S. ally in the war on terror with a nuclear arsenal.

Speaking on CNN's Late Edition program, Pakistan's ambassador to the United States, Mahmud Ali Durrani, said his government takes the terrorist threat seriously and is actively combating it on its own.

"We are totally focused on destroying al-Qaida and the Taleban network, and not just one person," said Mahmud Ali Durrani. "We are looking at the broader issue."

The ambassador added that neither Pakistan nor the United States knows precisely where terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden may be hiding, but if his whereabouts were known inside Pakistan, then Pakistani forces would have, in his words, "taken him out."

**********************************

So Obama has done nothing to turn the situation around,.....perhaps it is even worse now.....

Yea, that's all we need is our drones programmed to take out our forces in Afganistan.

The Pakistan government will apologize profusely when the taliban steals the drones and uses them against the US and Afghans.

Pakistan should get a clue, but seems like terrorist supporter nation to me by their actions (and inactions.)

Allowed? Lol! Considering the degree of control the Pakistani government exercises in the regions in question, I would take this as a green light.

Oh great!

Now we're gonna finance weapons the slimuslims can use to more efficiently kill US Servicemen?

I don't think so!

The can afford to design and build dozens of nukes, but can't afford to design and build, or buy their own drones?
