"Some in the Defense Department have been frustrated by what they see as a failure to act."

Some Americans (like me) tend to agree. This is not only a failure to act, it is a failure to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States!

He mulls aims? Seems to me they are achieving what they set out to do. Prove that this administration will not act.

“Obama Team Mulls Aims Of Somali Extremists”

In the meantime, Obama is studying up...

He’ll have it down pretty soon, and then he’ll be able to speak to them properly...

Yes. Now is the time for “delicate” negotiations with tribal forces. It will surely become the new rage for fighting terrorism.

We got the intellectual equivalent of a squirt gun playing with armed pirates.

A coule of SEALS could have solved this problem efficiently and promtly.

Heaven help us. Please let me be on the jury when the Obamaloon is tried.

Aims? Money, power, guns.

POWER.

If they have any aims besides the ransom money, those aims would be to get some foolish nations to treat them like freedom fighters and offer them international political patronage “aid”, in the form of “development grants” with the “community organizers”, like the pirates, included in the lists of approved beneficiaries of the aid.

It would be just like Obama, and would translate well with everything he does - shift the payment of the money from the private sector to the government(s) and institutionalize it.

American recruits of Somali extremists addressed a press conference in the conflict-wracked country this week to rally other youths to join their jihad (holy war), a US monitoring group said Friday.

On April 5, “two American members of the Mujahideen Youth Movement (MYM) identified as Abu-Muslim and Abu Yaxye” spoke at the news conference and acknowledged that “many” Somali-Americans are “all over Somalia to join the jihad,” said the SITE Intelligence Group.

The pair said they are “Somali youth” from the United States and are stationed near the southern port of Kismayo.

> “The U.S., Canadian and European fighters at the al-Shabab training camps are, for now, being used primarily as cannon fodder in Somalia’s chaotic internal wars, Philip Mudd, the No. 2 official at the FBI’s National Security Branch, told Congress last month... “

QED. If you are a foreign national fighting in another country’s war, “you pays yer money and you takes yer chances.”
