Photobucket The Obamas Stage Daring Rescue

AP: Washington DC April 12 2008 10:37PM EST

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibb released an official photo of the President and First Lady rescuing Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates.

In a prepared statement Gibb stated, "...that America's foes better be prepared for robust and immediate and personal action from The President and First Lady."

The President and First Lady were unharmed according to Gibb. They are expected to arrived on Monday by a F-18 Hornet piloted by Michelle Obama.

Gibb also stated that the supposed visit by The First Family to St. John’s Episcopal Church was an elaborate plot to lull the Somali pirates into complacency. Actors were used to impersonate the Obamas @ St Johns with Will Smith playing TOTUS and Oprah playing Michelle. While the actors were at St John's, TOTUS and Michelle did a specop HALO jump onto the deck of the USS Bainbridge while it was underway at flank speed.

When asked by reporters his reactions to the rescue, Vice President Biden responded, "The Obamas are some crazy SOB's and they kick ass and take names, so you better not piss them off."

I'll say.

It's a small step, I think, from:
"The right of self-defense -- a principle of international law -- justifies killing pirates as they try to board a ship. "
to:
"The right of self-defense -- a principle of international law -- justifies killing hijackers as they try to steal a car. "

In the People's Republik of Kalifornia there is no such right to use arms to prevent a car hijacking.

The right to keep, bear, and USE arms is finally being advanced by the increasing criminality experienced by the disarmed throughout the world.

The Navy and Marines need a place to practice live fire landings. Somalia is the perfect place. Too bad we don’t have any more Iowa class BB’s to help soften the landing beaches.

Finally giving the "Shoot" order on the Somali Yacht Club is going to do the Obamanator more good than the election.

In case you ain't noticed, our POTUS is taking some very savvy steps toward identifying himself as a patriotic "War Leader." Proclaiming his victory in Iraq, and moving heavy reinforcements into Afghanistan, and getting tough with Pock-ee-Stahn, one of his favorite countries.

Betcha: 1 year from now: Guantanamo still open and doing a land-office business with captured pirates, No draw-down in Iraq, more guys in Afghanistan, bigger and better attacks in Pock-ee-stahn ... all with a drastically reduced military budget. Yippee!

Ending piracy just involves understanding cost benefit analysis. Imagine you are a Somali teen and have no prospects. Suddenly a couple of guys with guns and a boat go out and capture a ship, bring it back to port and get millions in return. They buy cars, TVs, cellphones etc. and give you some designer sunglasses. You say wow and join in this endeavor and the money keeps coming. Now things change and more and more of the guys with guns and boats end up dead. Elite commandos drop in and free hostages and in the process more of your compatriots are killed. Now B-52s dump steel rain and you are lucky to be alive. Suddenly the cost of being a pirate has gone up considerably and those sunglasses seem pretty cheap.

:’) They’d stop if they never collected ransoms. Obviously the whole coastline needs to be cleaned out. And the only “embedding” we need to do with such an operation is the burial of the dead perps.

The natural right to self defense was well understood by our Founders to be conferred by God, not man, and is therefore outside the jurisdiction of man-made laws and statutes.

Liberals and leftists seem to believe that they can ignore natural law, and change human behavior with the force of statute, but they're dead wrong. No matter how many laws they enact to restrict people's natural right to self defense, they will never stop the use of force by people to defend and protect themselves.

They're dreamers and utopians. Plain and simple. Let them disarm themselves, if they must. Just leave the rest of us alone.

“Pirates” are just Islamic terrorists with a boat.

Windflier said: "The natural right to self defense was well understood by our Founders to be conferred by God ..."

Exactly right. There is no amendment which states, "the right of the people to defend themselves shall not be infringed". But without it, the Second Amendment makes no sense.

We see today in Great Britain the consequences of infringing the right to self-defense. It's not pretty.

I think our Founders would view any discussion of limiting the scope of the Bill of Rights as a signal that government is raging out of control. Their attempt to constrain government has become a mechanism to constrain the people. I don't think our Founders would be surprised; just disappointed.

Not pretty at all. Some vile things are happening to the law-abiding citizens of that country, who have been rendered virtually defenseless by their government.

This latest adventure with piracy off the Horn of Africa sheds light on the fact that commercial crews plying the Indian Ocean (and the globe) have also been rendered defenseless by the powers-that-be.

This ridiculous state of affairs obviously needs to be corrected. Those crews have a natural right to self defense. Only the insane would demand that they continue to put themselves in harm's way without proper defensive arms.
