The top House Democrat overseeing the Department of Homeland Security is demanding that officials there explain how and why they wrote and released a controversial report identifying veterans as potential terrorist threats.

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson of Mississippi, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said in a letter to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano that he was "dumbfounded" such a report would be issued.

"This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans -- including war veterans," Mr. Thompson said in the letter sent Tuesday.

"As I am certain you agree, freedom of association and freedom of speech are guaranteed to all Americans -- whether a person's beliefs, whatever their political orientation, are 'extremist' or not," Mr. Thompson said.

If this had been Tom Ridge or another Republican appointee he would have been well on his way toward being hounded out of office.

It's a Bull Dyke dim though so all you hear is the chirping of crickets!

What a country!

This radical report needs to be played up for all it’s worth to give insight into the Obama administration. Almost every citizen, either themselves or their relatives are targeted by this manifesto of hate. It should be plastered everywhere, passed out door-to-door and printed in the newspapers. I’ll guarantee 90% of the citizens of this country doesn’t even know of its existence.

This report was only “Unclassified, For Official Use Only,” which is a wimpy “non-classification.”

Somebody on the distribution list gave it to Roger Hedgecock in San Diego.

What is more highly classified, that we have not seen?

And how are “domestic enemies” reports classified in the first place? Do federal law enforcement agencies have classifications with “teeth,” that is, if you leak them, you can be indicted?

You’re right.

More ineptitude from this circle jerk of an administration.

He’s from Mississippi, the Deep South, and very likely mistrusts (rightfully so) effete snake-oil salesmen from the North like Barack Obama. I think we can surmise that this HHS “report” was not only known within the West Wing prior to its release, but likely was hatched by the political advisors to Obama. Napolitano is a front-man (literally so), who would take the fall for it in the event the heat grows too hot. She is expendable and is, in my view, a useful idiot for the dangerous leftists in the White House.

Thanks for the post. Now this is a statement:

"I am particularly struck by the report's conclusion which states that I&A 'will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months to ascertain with greater regional specificity the rise in rightwing extremist activity in the United States with a particular emphasis on the political, economic, and social factors that drive rightwing extremist radicalization,'" Mr. Thompson said, demanding to know what types of activities DHS had planned for "the next several months."

Reichsfuhrerein der Sicherheitsdienst Janet Napolitano has done us a great favor. She has revealed what the Obama Reich is really thinking and what they really have in store for us. She will have to be a little more careful about what she says in the future, at least until its too late to do anything about it.

“demanding that officials there explain how and why they wrote and released a controversial report identifying veterans as potential terrorist threats.”

Shucks, that’s an easy one. It’s because they hate America, all that it stands for, and the brave men and women who work so diligently to protect her.

Sec of DHS, this morning on FOX News, attempted to downplay the report, even noting that one footnote she should have had rewritten. It was a fine example of LibTard spin, but it doesn’t change the reality that these idiots are dangerous when they are in charge. And, now, with control of the Senate, the House and the Presidency, they are especially dangerous.

It’s time to take back the country.
