I checked and I wasn't able to find any pictures and/or articles that GWB ever "shook hands" with Chavez. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

I believe I heard the Friends report that Hugo met W, they shook hands and said they wanted to work together. Hugo later came to NY and called him the devil.

I don't know the answer, perhaps someone with Lexus-Nexus?
I'll just comment that shaking hands with either Obama or Chavez I would keep my left hand on my wallet and wash my hands with sanitizer afterward.

I thought it was interesting that today the Washington Post ran the inflamatory picture of BO and Hugito shaking hands on the inside of the paper, and had a generic meeting picture on the front page. I still wanted to be sick to my stomach at the idea of an American president sucking up to a marxist dictator. But I can see BO wanting to take over our country and socialize as efficiently as Chavez has Venezuela.

If he did shake his hand at least he didn’t BOW to him like he was royalty.

Try "Quebec Summit of the Americas in 2001". It's the only thing I could find where they might have met "eight years ago" to shake hands. No pics that I could find.
Things pretty much deteriorated after that.

I don’t believe Obama bowed to Chavez either. Shaking hands is normal among Presidents. I know that Bush would not shun another leader by not offering to shake their hand. He is too classy for that. Even if he did not care for the person...

Maybe he meant... “With a finger of this same hand I greeted Bush eight years ago.”

He had a brain fart. That was the hand he used to bang his shoe on the podium and call Bush “Satan”.

The history of the handshake was a form of checking for weapons in the right hand. If Bush did shake hands, then all the better.
