South Florida Times ^ | 04/20/09

The NAACP and American Civil Liberties Union of Florida are trying to stop legislation that could require a driver's license, passport or a form of state identification card in order to vote.

The bill is gaining national attention from those who fear it would disenfranchise voters.

Governor Suntan is probably going to fold, since he is a big fan of Hussein and the Voter Fraud Machine.

We need to have a Voter ID Requirement in every single state across our nation!

Demand they provide specific examples of actual people who are qualified to vote and would be unable to get an ID.

I have yet to see ONE example.

You need an ID to get on an airplane or rent a car.

How much longer do we have to put up with this nonsense? Everybody knows that if dem “voters” had to show a valid ID they would be in huge trouble.

You also need id to cash a check or buy alcohol. It is a ridiculous argument that it is unduly burdensome. We need to standardize voting requirements and have a centralized voter list so people can only vote once, not multiple times per locality or state even. Also remove dead voters. The “system” as it exists now is beyond irresponsible.

And that’s the exact problem, they want Florida to be a Dem state even if it means that voter fraud could and would prevail. I wonder how many people voted in Florida more than once since they don’t have to show some kind of ID.

Scores of Felons Voted Illegally

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002158407_felons23m.html

Scores of convicted felons voted illegally in the state’s 2004 general election, and officials never noticed because of serious flaws in the system for tracking them, The Seattle Times has found.

The Times, reviewing felony convictions as far back as 1997, identified 129 felons in King and Pierce counties who were recorded as having voted in the Nov. 2 election. Another 23 likely voted. Several methods were used to confirm the findings.

Either the counties failed to flag or purge felons on the voter rolls as required by state law, or they allowed them to register without checking their status. Some were even mailed absentee ballots and returned them unchallenged.

The findings are almost certain to add to an already contentious debate over whether Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire’s victory was legitimate.

Man charged with voting three times (MN)

Feb. 23, 2005 | PATRICK SWEENEY

Pioneer Press

On Election Day, people often tell their friends — in jest — to vote early and often.

But a Brooklyn Park man is accused of taking that advice to heart.

A felony charge filed Tuesday in Hennepin County District Court accuses Darin Randall Johnson, 34, of registering to vote and casting ballots in three different places in the November election.

Johnson refused to comment when contacted by a reporter.

The criminal complaint alleges he filled out same-day registration forms and voted once in Brooklyn Park and twice in Minneapolis.

The alleged voter fraud was uncovered by a member of the Hennepin County elections staff.

In the complaint, Mike Atkinson, an investigator for the county attorney, said that he questioned Johnson and that he admitted voting three times. According to Atkinson, Johnson said he had lived at three different addresses in Brooklyn Park and Minneapolis and thought he was entitled to vote in each precinct where he had lived.

They always ask me for ID, why not someone with an ACORN t-shirt?

Ask ACORN or their cheerleader Barack. They made the most of this flaw in the system...on a national basis. Funny how those "voter fraud" and "disenfranchisement" stories the mainstream media pelted us with ad nauseum in 2000 and 2004 failed to materialize in 2008, isn't it?

Explain how it can ‘disenfranchise’ voters if the have to show an ID?

The problem is the dem base is too lazy to go get an ID - at least the ones here legally. Most of them wouldn’t even be registered to vote if it weren’t for things like Motor Voter laws.

I’m betting ACORN isn’t real happy about this.

They fight ids, exams and anything that might show that their constituency is not legal or just not that competent.
That in turn tells their constituency that it’s OK to goof off in school, act slovenly, and break the law.
That keeps their constituency down, so that they will not be achievers.
That makes the left very happy.

of course the media won’t say anything, they’re too busy telling everyone why they should vote for Obama to cover something so small as voter fraud. I mean hell, it’s not like it would make a difference in the election would it? (sarc)

I’ve always wondered how a person can supposedly go through life without ever having a need to provide a photo ID for any reason. Where do these people live, in a cave far away from all contact with modern civilization?

Most likely every “witness” or “complainant” in the case needs an ID to get into the courthouse to attend the hearings.

The bill is gaining national attention from those who fear it would disenfranchise voters.

The real fear is that it will stop those who never had the 'franchise' in the first place from voting.

AHHHH but if you do not have an id you can vote PROVISIONALLY with a voter witness.

The ballot is set aside until you are checked out.

upon reflection I think they are trying to eliminate the provisional part and force questionable, unprovable voters into the general vote pool.

a VAST majority of provisional ballots are rejected as ineligible to vote.
