Courant.com: Obama says he'll help Dodd win re-election

President Barack Obama still enjoys wide popularity across the country nearly 100 days since his inauguration, and he's now made it clear he's willing to leverage that political capital to help re-elect Connecticut's Democratic U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd.

Obama told the Boston Globe in an interview that Dodd "deserves the help."

"I can't say it any clearer: I will be helping Chris Dodd because he deserves the help," Obama told the Boston Globe. "He just has an extraordinary record of accomplishment, and I think the people of Connecticut will come to recognize that."

The president's comments should quell any murmurs about a Democratic challenge to the state's beleaguered senior senator, party officials said.

"I would think that certainly the president's endorsement of Sen. Dodd will give anyone considering it pause," said Nancy DiNardo, state Democratic chairwoman.

Not a wise idea. Republicans would be smart to point out in advertisements Dodd’s connections to the Financial Crisis, his corruption scandals, etc. It might just drag Barack down with it.

This could be good... for the Dodd re-election campaign to be a referendum against the administration!

If the people of CT don’t recognize it, then I’m sure that ACORN and associates will help them realize it.

Here’s my prediction... Obama will throw Dodd under the bus as soon as his nose gets bloodied just a little bit.

If the GOP had any balls they’d be pouncing on this endorsement, but alas ...

This could go two ways.
0bama, the thug, voices his support before letting you fall.
Dodd spills the beans concerning 0bama’s dark past.

“He just has an extraordinary record of accomplishment, and I think the people of Connecticut will come to recognize that.”

Yeah, like the time he...um...ah...defending the murderous, Marxist Sandinistas? Then there’s the time that he stood strong for...err...uh...ruining our financial system?

Come on Down Obama.I seriously think you will do more harm to Chris Dodd than help him.I'm looking forward to that.

Dodd has only collected donations for his campaign from five Citizens of Connecticut since news of his games have come up.People want him gone.Like NOW.

I love it. Used to live in CT. Remember the disgraced Sen. Tom Dodd being censured by the Senate. Like father, like son. Obama’s hubris is beyond belief, and it will be his downfall. Not sure who is dirtier - Dodd or Obama.
