Reporting from Washington -- The Obama administration, already on treacherous political ground because of its outreach to traditional adversaries such as Iran and Cuba, has opened the door a crack to engagement with the militant group Hamas.

The Palestinian group is designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization and under law may not receive federal aid.

But the administration has asked Congress for minor changes in U.S. law that would permit aid to continue flowing to Palestinians in the event Hamas-backed officials become part of a unified Palestinian government.

The aid measures may never come into play. Power-sharing negotiations between Hamas and its rival, the U.S.-backed Fatah faction, appear deadlocked. The two have been bitterly divided since 2007, when Hamas drove Fatah out of the Gaza Strip. Fatah controls only the West Bank.

Nevertheless, the move has alarmed congressional supporters of Israel, who are watching for signs that the new Democratic team at the White House might be more sympathetic to Palestinians than was the Bush administration.

The administration's proposal is akin to agreeing to support a government that "only has a few Nazis in it," Rep. Mark Steven Kirk (R-Ill.) told Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at a House hearing last week.

Just Say Yes to Drags

(For those of you who missed the ‘60s or didn’t see Austin Powers, a drag is a boring or tiresome person.)

There is a rabbinical saying that those who are kind to the cruel will be cruel to the kind.

I thought of this upon hearing how Muslim terrorists have been downgraded to human-mediated disaster facilitators (or whatever inane language they’ve come up with), whereas peaceful folks like us are just plain old domestic terrorists, without the suracloaking.

Actually it was 52%. It was announced about 2 days after the election. It has been quoted here in several threads. We have had discussions about it and you get the usual "Catholic Basher" rant or they aren't "real" Catholics.

For some odd reason they call themselves Catholic and warm a pew every now and then. Many seem to get elected to high office by other Catholics.

One can only assume that the Kennedy's are "good Catholics", since they get re elected for everything by other Mass. Catholics. Biden, Pelosi, and Kerry seem to have a lock on the Catholic vote also.

If I suggest the Church should discipline them to make it clear they are NOT good Catholics, I get the bums rush here on FR to mind my own bidness and let the Church handle it's bidness.

There seems to be a war in the Church over killing babies and porking rearends trumps taxing the rich to give to the poor. The Jesuit arm of the Church seems to be winning. Jesuits arm terrorists in S. America and support killing officials to bring about social justice. Somewhere along the line they seem to have forgotten the other parts of Christianity. A vote for a Kennedy seems to nullify the baby killing as long as the unions get a better contract.

Not only that but running up to the election our Jesuit pastor and ‘guest’ priest, a teacher at Holy Cross College - wove messages into their homilies about ‘not being afraid of change, not to cling to our fears of the unknown, Catholics should have hope for the future, etc., etc. combined with non-stop polemics on ‘social justice’”- not exactly politically neutral messaging. And, by the way, in October homilies, there was one, isolated reference to pray for an end to ‘violence against the unborn’ - not one word explicitly condemning abortion or those who actively support it. Our ‘great’ Bishop McCormack actually did nothing to prevent a local ‘Catholic’ college from hosting our ‘Catholic and proudly pro-Abortion and special friend of the Bishop’ ex-Governor and US now Senator Shaheen at a political event. From conversations with outraged Catholic friends from upper New York State to Maine down into mASS. and Connectticut, NY and NJ, the vast majority of New England’s Catholic hierarchy were unwavering in their leanings favoring the current occupier of the White House.

There has a total of 1 Sunday since November when the subject of protesting the passage of the Freedom of Choice act was mentioned and action urged. One Sunday, one single mention.

Thanks for that bit of info. People, we have Satan working it's way in the the Church body and most seem content to "just let someone else handle it". These people need to be challenged publicly or they will take over the Church( as if they haven't already). Are we supposed to listen and applaud just because the claim to be Catholic? Is their no testing of what they say?

Just as a personal opinion offered here, I believe God has placed in front of us a simple test to test the spirit of the speakers. If they are neutral to accepting of abortion, they speak for Satan. If they are neutral to accepting of gay marriage, they speak for Satan. Can we agree that fornication and adultery is wrong? They didn't in Clinton's term. These are the simplest tenets that ALL Christians should agree on, Catholic and Protestant.

Anyone that appears to speak for the church should agree with these simple terms of our salvation.

I absolutely believe that God Himself has placed abortion and homosexuality in the forefront of the world's culture to say "Chose me, or chose to perish."

Can ANYONE tolerate a man that's only legislative accomplishment before becoming president was to vote yes to kill babies after a botched abortion, speak at a Catholic institution? This isn't about Freedom of Speech. He can belch his vomit somewhere else, anywhere else than a Catholic institution. And the priests and Bishops, and Cardinals that start to speak of "understanding" and "tolerance" of such belief's should be challenged or removed from their positions.

--The numbers sound insane, and there's no way to track those numbers, so I don't see how they can be real in any sense.
There are misguided Catholics and other misguided from the Christian denominations.
Anyone who may have voted for oBama cannot seriously call themselves "Christian" . There's no way it was "52%". It was probably more like 14%. And they are not Christians; they are lost confused souls.

--I don't see how that would happen here. Clearly, us Catholics have called for the Church to set those errant goofs straight for many years now. It needs to be done. They should all be excommunicated. We don't need fake believers who march to their own twisted drum.
